PC shmup most similar to Espgaluda?...
That's what I'm looking for. I can't emulate Espgaluda so I'm looking for a PC shmup that is the most similar, in terms of game play.

never played esp myself but the game im playing atm the freeware Eden's Aegis is simlar. (EDIT looking at ur post count im guessing u allready know this) Its by X.X games. Also check out Edens Edge and Blue wish Resurrection (and Plus). EA is quite easy by defualt but if u go into the options and turn wait (slowdown) off the difficulty raches up a few noches.

One of the characters in Hitogata Happa has a "bullet time" ability, so you might want to try the demo for that...that's the only one that comes immediately to mind.

Re: PC shmup most similar to Espgaluda?...
StellaVanity - Maybe the most similar to Esp. Galuda. In trial stage. Have not played it since v0.21 though.
Eden's Aegis - Use splatter shot to bullet cancel. X.x game, freeware.
PatriotDark - Focused shot to cancel enemy bullets and get cubes. A slice of Esp. Galuda, Ketsui and DDP. Freeware.
All great games

Cattiness aside, post count obviously has no bearing whatsoever on the extent of anybody's knowledge. That's something 13-year-old bampots on IGN like to think.Twiddle wrote:It's dave4shmups, he doesn't know anything.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:(EDIT looking at ur post count im guessing u allready know this)

It means hes not a noob to shmups that is unless he thinks this is a forum catering to clay pegeon shooting. Re: PC shmup most similar to Espgaluda?...
What are your specs? I'm running at ~95% full speed in PCSX2 beta 1888 on a laptop with Intel video and a 2.1GHz dual core Pentium [read: Core 2 Duo, just the budget model].dave4shmups wrote:That's what I'm looking for. [edit: damnit, typo]
[edit2: also, I'm playing in ghettotate with my controls are turned sideways, runs 10% faster]
And if your intention was to MAME it, a RARed Galuda ISO is only 200MB.
USE THE REAL DEAL. Don't go for cheap knockoffs [Ok, the x.x games are sweet, and last time I played Patriot Dark, I liked it, but that was when I had my old laptop... which died.].

I meant emulate on MAME, which I you can't do yet. That's why I wanted to try out similar PC games, to see if I'd like Espgaluda.

Re: PC shmup most similar to Espgaluda?...
Because I don't own a Japanese PS2 (yet) and even when I get one, the game is about $89.00 on Ebay-and that's on the low end of the scale. Perhaps someone on here could sell me one for cheaper; I don't know and I'll have to ask when the time comes. I LOVE shmups, they are my favorite genre, and I'm getting to love bullet-hell shmups even more, but there's no way I'm going to shell out over $100 for a single game. And Mushihimesama is even more expensive on Ebay. It's sad and it's pissing me off (probably partly because I'm sick and unemployed).captpain wrote:Why don't you try ESP Galuda to see if you like ESP Galuda?dave4shmups wrote:I meant emulate on MAME, which I you can't do yet. If I cannot ever afford import shmups as a hobby, I guess I'll just stick to other genres.

Forget eBay, Play-asia still has new copies and of course we have the P-A coupon thread in the trading station if you want to knock down the price a bit further.

Just played Eden's Aegis for the first time. The gameplay felt much more like ESP Ra.De. than ESPGaluda. Now that I think about it, even the boss theme sounded similar at certain points. Great game, though.

I played ESP Ra.De. on MAME a couple of years ago a loved it. I don't suppose we'll ever see a home port of that, will we?Zweihander wrote:Just played Eden's Aegis for the first time. It's either enjoy playing it on Mame/Mame32 or buy a cheap Supergun and an ESP.Ra.De. PCB and play it as it was meant to be. It's a pleasure to play the PCB version.dave4shmups wrote:I played ESP Ra.De. on MAME a couple of years ago a loved it. Never, unless Cave gets off their ass and starts porting their older games to the XBLA like they've been talking about for months now.dave4shmups wrote:I played ESP Ra.De. on MAME a couple of years ago a loved it. About CAVE making money, I'd say, something they are not too confident with apparently (e.g. Ketsui region-lock)ncp wrote:what the shit are you talking aboutZweihander wrote:Never, unless Cave gets off their ass and starts porting their older games to the XBLA like they've been talking about for months now.

Ketsui was ported by 5pb and their decision to region lock has nothing to do with Cave, really.

from what ive read online cave wont be releasing any more region free games for awhileUdderdude wrote:Ketsui was ported by 5pb and their decision to region lock has nothing to do with Cave, really.

I was referring to "porting their older games to the XBLA like they've been talking about for months now". Cave never said they were going to. Claiming that they're just sitting on their ass because they haven't ported your favorite games is just stupid.
