honestly man....i think what we have here is a case of culture shock....you arent familiar with how we converse here....or peoples posting styles....

read through some threads....do a search for last hope or dux and see a real shit storm....that is negative feedback....

what you have mostly gotten here is overall good feedback...with the repeated request for a little more research....this is not a bad thing...this is feedback from people who are serious about the games you are talking about, so they want real detailed info....

honestly...read some of those threads....i think you will feel better about what you got here

This is one of the craziest threads I've ever encountered on this forum.

It's very odd that this community is stereotyped as "Simpsons Comic-Book Guys" because we respond to someone who appears maniacally enthusiastic about a particular Youtube series--as though prompted by the creator or related to him in some way--in an honest, forward, and frank manner. The nature of our hobby dictates that we meticulously criticize someone's analysis of a game in the genre--the whole nature of our hobby requires extremely precise attention to detail and it's part of what we love. For most of us, it's far from central to our existence. It's a peripheral hobby that engages a part of our mind. This absolutely does make us "nerds" in one sense, but it doesn't make us nerd-demons who indiscriminately reject newbies.

It's like a young, relatively inexperienced writer bringing his poem/essay/novel/whatever into a workshop of famous authors. The authors respond favorably but don't hold back their criticism, showing the student how he might re-approach or improve his work. The student, obviously angered, yells "IT'S ALL SUBJECTIVE! I HATE YOU ALL! UP YOURS!" and leaves the room weeping. The issue is that it's not subjective--as in these shmup reviews. There are obviously particular steps to take in order to gain respect in any community that requires talent, no matter if "respected" or "nerdy." To reject criticism out of hand because it shatters a mildly deluded sense of identity is unfortunate, but to damn the members of this board for their subtle and--at most--mildly condescending criticism is just dumb.

From your ardent supporter Naked Bob and his bullshit "Well I'd like to see YOU make a show!" nonsense.
Feedback will set you free.

No, he saw us for what we really are. We've succeeded in perpetuating the niche status of our genre and protecting it from all of those filthy gaming plebeians.

Thanks for posting the link.
I hardly ever read the Off-topic area of the forum, so I would never have seen it otherwise.
