I've purchased more Saturn shmups!

Post by Danny »

Hello again happy campers! (Well at least I hope you're happy any road!)

I've managed to obtain a copy of Twinkle Star Sprites and 3 Wonders (or Wonder 3 as it's called in the east) for my Sega Saturn (both of which are favourates of mine) and all I can say is WOW!

TSS is brillant, I felt that ADK did a really good job converting the game on to Saturn hardware and I'm really enjoying the game. I have one question though Whats the differance between Saturn and Arcade modes apart from being able to unlock something on the end of Saturn mode plus playable boss characters (without cheats) and the extra new character? (I know both have a differnt opening movie)

Three Wonders happens to be one of my fave' arcade games, well boards really of all time because it's not really one game but three and I happen to really like them all. OK Chairot (the shmup) is not the most intense or action packed hori' shooter every created but it's a damn nice one to play and to look at.

Well anyway just thought I let you guys know whats up? :)

TSS is one of my favourate game. May be the trail of stars/spikes left after a character's path. The Acrade version does not have that effect.

By the way, the new TSS is coming on PS2 and is scheduled to release on 28 July.
*Meow* I am as serious as a cat could possible be. *Meow*

A difference in versions may be the characters that may be selected. I know that the DC port is lacking in like 4 characters verses the Saturn port. I am currently trying to get me a Saturn version of Twinkle Star Sprites.

I do not know about the arcade version as I have never played.

I'm impressed with the saturn verison is really only slows down when you use a bomb and it's not to dire even when it does for I forgive it.

Both the Saturn and DC versions are superior to the Neo-Geo version anyway. I like the Saturn one the best for the extra characters...

3 Wonders is really good too. The shmup is fun and the platforming game is well made too... the puzzle one, however, doesn't entertain me much.

Yeah does'nt the platforming game (roosters/mightnight wonders) heavly remind you of gouls and ghosts? I mean it's even got the amour losing thing going on. Mainy people did not like chariot due to the fact that there are more manic games out on the system but I say people gotta remember that the game was made in the early ninties lol.
