This seemed interesting enough to post over here. Arrange just keeps getting crazierArrange actually has two levels of rank, one in normal mode, the other in Kakusei over. To increase the normal mode rank, 1CC the game on the 1P side. To increase the Kakusei over rank, 1CC the game on the 2P side. You can change 1P to 2P at the title screen by pressing the BACK button on the xbox controller.

Am I correct in thinking that it's a head sticking out of a tank? I was thinking it was that mini-boss from stage 2, and that was all that was left of him.msm wrote:yeah that stage 4 boss is great, cool bullet patterns and the laughing and screens and whatnot really knock it up a notchvld99 wrote:As a side note, I love how it gets bigger as you progress in the battle while laughing at you through a projected screen.

Your score starts over to zero when you continue, no?Shuurin wrote:It is something of a minor gripe, but I noticed in the Score Attack leader boards (least in BL, only mode I tried) it allows you to continue...and still get your score uploaded. It will state how many continues are used, but your score will get matched in rank with scores that did not make use of a continue. I think personally it sort of ruins the spirit of score attack in the first place despite the fierce difficulty in Esp2's Arcade/BL modes. Just curious if anyone else noticed/cared.

I think the issue is with the fact that you can score more in later stages, so it creates an uneven starting position even if the score counter itself starts at zero.

Does it really save your highest score in the leaderboard (even after continuing) or is your score after the first credit saved? If it's the first one it would be kinda broken as you could just credit feed to the last boss, use a continue just before she dies and then get the high end bonus.

If you continue right before she dies, your score would be reset to practically zero (add a little bit shooting for the last second or so), extends and gems/gold back to default, so the end game bonus should do squat.antares wrote:Does it really save your highest score in the leaderboard (even after continuing) or is your score after the first credit saved? Either way the top scores are going to be 1cc's, not sure what the point of allowing continues here adds, isn't that what normal mode is for?

when you go into over mode theres a blue circle around your guy/gal/both , this fills up while you're in overmode (fills way faster when you're not firing). it can fill up 3 times, each time it fills you go up a level. the higher your level the more gems and gold you get from destroying enemies - cranking it to max is something worth doing as soon as possible. galuda 1 had this too, but your level reset when you die which was really shite. now it doesn'tMomijitsuki wrote:Could someone explain the Kakusei 'levels' to me? The problem will go away eventually as the scoreboard will fill with full runs. So, fortunately, it's not really an issue.CStarFlare wrote:I think the issue is with the fact that you can score more in later stages, so it creates an uneven starting position even if the score counter itself starts at zero.

I can confirm that the score that gets uploaded is the one you have at game over, regardless of whether you continued.EPS21 wrote:antares wrote:Does it really save your highest score in the leaderboard (even after continuing) or is your score after the first credit saved?
I was initially surprised that Score Attack prompted me to continue. I normally decline it anyway but I tried it once on my first Asagi run just to see what would happen. My score reset to 0, I scored 9 mil on my second credit, then lost. The first credit score was discarded, the 9 mil was uploaded and the leaderboard says that I continued once.
But yeah, I figure that folks who use continues aren't going to have particularly high scores anyway, so it probably won't make much of a difference in the long run.

Re: Espgaluda II
I gave 150% a shot, and it did indeed fix the problem, but I can't see my score or my meters on the bottom. Guess I'm stuck with a slightly squashed image with smoothing on. It's really not that bad though, at least on CRT. The smoothing is much more elegant than most games.antares wrote:I think the zoom to 140% is why you get the segmented background when smoothing is off. It was the same with the Futari port if you chose a zoom that wasn't in the correct ratio. Try zooming to 150% and see if it's still there.8 1/2 wrote:So if you're playing on a CRT don't turn Smoothing "OFF" for any modes. I assumed this was just some dumb filter, but without it on the background is segmented into horizontal bars and brings back horrors of bad PS2 ports.
Also, why no proper Tate option that fills the screen? Having to zoom to 140% seems awkward and quite unintuitive.
On a gameplay note, can someone explain the rules of how bullets stop short of killing you in Black Label? I've combed through the guide in Strategy, but I still don't quite understand exactly what's going on and exactly where you're invulnerable. It seems like head-on collisions are cool, but hitting a bullet on the side of your character is always death? Is there a set threshold of safety?

how do you set your 360 to display in 480p?Strider77 wrote:You can make arcade mode look ok if you:
A: have a display device you can tate
B: that display device can handle 480p natively
C: set your 360 to output in 480p
D: play the game tated in 480p with no zooming or filteres turned on
now... if it MUST have scanlines there for it to look good then there is no hope for you unless you get some extra equipment. otherwise it will look just like the PCB line doubled.
but.... I just say play it in 360 mode. keep in mind I'm really anal about the scanline thing.
i have a 480p tv so this intrigues me.

Go into the display setting on the dashboard (under system config). I'm assuming you're using VGA, Component or HDMI cables, as you cannot select a progressive display option if you're using Composite or S-Video.Special World wrote:how do you set your 360 to display in 480p?

Black Label: Is there any reason why I'd want to have a certain priority to things I shoot? Like... would I want to shoot small enemies so they explode and then kill the big enemy so IT explodes then go out of Kakusei and kill a small enemy or what?
would I want to kill all the small guys and then exit out of kakusei and THEN kill the big guy?
not sure if big guys give a higher bonus multiplier on cancelled bullets or something.

Alright, so it doesn't matter then which order I do it as long as I cancel more bullets?
And holy god I cannot do FUCK in arcade/360
I'm just like "ugh fuck gotta go into K-Z mode" and then a bunch of nothing happens and I hang my head in shame.
ED: Okay, I'm starting to get the hang of it.
What's this I heard about increasing your rank? Am I supposed to just let myself go into Kakusei overdrive at some point in the first level or what?

True, the leader boards will mostly fill with full clears later on, was just something of a double take for me.yyr wrote:I can confirm that the score that gets uploaded is the one you have at game over, regardless of whether you continued.EPS21 wrote:antares wrote:Does it really save your highest score in the leaderboard (even after continuing) or is your score after the first credit saved?

Has anyone seen if this does the same thing Deathsmiles does where if you're playing score attack and for some reason lose your connection to Live it ends your game? I quit playing DS score attack because of that, but Mushi Futari didn't have that problem. If no one's seen it happen yet, I guess I'll try yanking the ethernet cord while playing to test it myself. Best to not find out while I'm having a really good run. (if I ever do have a good run)

I've been looking around but I can't see a real answer to this, my high score doesn't save when I turn off the xbox. My replays will save (which is the only way I can save my HS at the moment) so how do I get it to save HS? Am I pressing the wrong buttons when it asks me to save it because I normally press A.

In case anyone cares : Espgaluda II sells 12,300 copies its first week in Japan. That's about 70% of the first shipment. Not bad, but not quite as good as Futari (and much less than Deathsmiles).

Yikes, not as good as the ones mentioned but those are good numbers anyway. This title is not as popular as DS or Futari so not bad at all.Cuilan wrote:In case anyone cares : Espgaluda II sells 12,300 copies its first week in Japan. That's about 70% of the first shipment. Re: Espgaluda II
Are you certain of this? It is not always obvious that your high scores saved, because the "default" high score (the one shown while you play) always resets. Futari did this too. Try pressing "B" when the game fires up and the Score Ranking screen is displayed. It will cycle through the different charts. There are a total of six: one set for today and one for all time, and within each set, one chart for each character.RetroRepair wrote:I've been looking around but I can't see a real answer to this, my high score doesn't save when I turn off the xbox. The question asked when the game is over is, AFAIK, about whether you want to save your replay.

Re: Espgaluda II
I don't really like this game. There, I said it. I've spent the entire week playing it over and over (360 mode) and trying to come to grips with the score system. I think I've got it down pretty well now, and I'm making progress, but I'm not having much fun.
This is the same reason why I don't like the Devil May Cry games very much. I don't like to toy with my targets/enemies when I'm in a game. I can handle the concept of something like DDP, where in certain situations I want to let certain enemies live a little longer to keep my chain going, but this game just takes it too far.
It's not really the difficulty that turns me off. I like my shmups hard as hell, and difficulty is often a driving factor in keeping my interest. It's just that this is not a fun game to practice. Every screen is just an exhausting series of mode-switching and bullet-cancelling.
I'm going to start working on Black Label a bit and see how that fares, but I'm mentally already waiting for Ketsui and Deathsmiles II.
