I don't believe there was an R-Type for the FM Towns. It was previewed but never appeared.
I remembered: Image Fight and KU2++,

Really oh wow. I have some old video game magazines dating back to the late 80's that showed pics of R-Type for FM towns.

Yes, I've seen those pictures too, but they're previews I'm sure. The one I saw on the Internet was from a preview of the machine itself, before it was even released. If you have them handy it would be nice if you could scan them or something.
As for Ku2++, I don't have the Towns version, just the X68000 version, so I don't know what the Towns one is like.

So which work on the Marty and which don't? I know I've heard that Tatsujin Ou does, but ... um, Mahou Daisakusen and Raiden, perhaps? don't... which matters because running a Marty is of course a whole lot easier than an entire FM Towns computer, I think. (And given the awful state of FM Towns emulators last I checked, that's not an option.)

Mahou Daisakusen doesn't run on the Marty, but all of the others do, as far as I know.

Bump.
It appears that R-Type on FM Towns (previewed in 1989) was nothing more than a PC-Engine emulator, running the PCE version, with a ton of slowdown.

Really badly written text for the video:

Really badly written text for the video:
One of the great classic, unfortunately lost hundreds of discards, prototypes, incabadas betas and unfinished projects. R-type intended to be both SuperGrafx as pioneers in a 32bit systems conversion, the chances were very high and the result, seen Tatsujin Ou, Raiden Trad, .etc etc ..... very encouraging. The feverish imagination began to flow between the press release lists, rumors, prices, import ...., and almost a good conversion ensured, via VING, or who knows, if self Irem, .... the This unknown system fans rubbing their hands. Anyway the project did not see light, both SuperGrafx and FM-Towns, the thing did not happen, even cdrom system that could have given much of himself, was not a sufficient claim for a move and make a work of art based on an arcade master. That controversial scan of EGM Magazine: http: //farm7.static.flickr.com/6099/6 ... Analyzing the situation R-Type was not an attractive prospect, maybe a combo of the first and second could have been more profitable, in part, because the saga already had many conversions, and who knows, if VING was engrossed in other tasks, passed the turn, and finally cancel ....... you go to know ... Speaking of R-Type under FM Towns is living a dream, a chimera, an impossible ... a shame, here we can see as if by magic, our computers towns, assembled under some kind of emulator to interpret the NEC PC Engine or Master System, takes care of us believe that R-TYPE IS REALLY running on a FMTOWNS, big mistake ......... is a PC ENGINE. ... the Huson licensed by the copyright without Fujitsu logos or anything, do we understand, or arrived at a phase a password to use the r-type2 HuCard (the Japanese game consists of two HuCards that not physically fit by number of megabytes in a single -. the Western version solved the hu-card with a larger capacity) Then we see a decline in the number of colors while maintaining HuCard palette, the result for a towns would not be correct, unless it were the original arcade, would take advantage of better some technological advantages, or who knows if an OST arranged, recorded on CD. Now to finish this little dream, we see that the first ends r-type Towns and exit the operating system Os. Starting another EXP ---- In the second game shown, the SEGA logo, do wake of this great deception. A shame, in every way, yours truly "intends" being able to test it live, and not resort (if no other remedy) to this videoincreasingly sound slowdowns are appreciated, flickering, but as you can see, is respected quite faithfully executing the engine pc emulator curious, mysterious, who knows if a PORT using only the CPU, an executable EXP (equivalent to the towns executable file) will run the ROM directly. You trust? Any information you know, reminded, and I'm googling to see if we can "prove" soon
