Bayonetta is about a mile out in front.
Darksiders is a derivative good game.
Dante's Inferno is a derivative bad game.

Bayonetta.

I am kind of angry that this is even a question. Further, I am not even that ashamed of being angry.

Umm, don't want to tempt fate here, but despite Bayonetta's appeal it still isn't for everyone. If you don't like DMC series or that kind of deep, combat focussed game, it might not be a worthy buy.

This is a good point.

[yes] Bayonetta if you are a fan of DMC or God Hand. That is, you want deep combat, you want to mess around with combos. You want the same rush you get playing DOJ.

[yes] Darksiders--which I haven't played--is apparently very similar to Zelda. Sounds like a good budget purchase to me--especially with 3D Dot Hero around the corner.

[yes] God of War 3 if you were a fan of the previous 2 or want to play an over-the-top brawler with a big emphasis on story and epic presentation. My greatest concern with this series is that the games in general are very short, and unlike Bayonetta, the draw to master the combat engine isn't there for me.

[???] Dante's Inferno. I've heard almost nothing good about this game other than it having tits. Apparently it is a nearly exact rip-off of GOW. Why not play the real thing?

Gears of Zelda, i.e. thoroughly repellent. Zelda is Hyrule.

I say Bayonetta also.

I did just try the demo to Darksiders and enjoyed it. If you like the 3D zeldas, you'll like Darksiders, plain and simple, but Darksiders does have a darker ascetic and (imo) better combat.

Don't even bother with Dante's Inferno, it's a straight reskin of God of War, you'd be way better off waiting on GoW3.

Either Bayonetta or the upcoming God of War 3.

Both Darksiders and Dante's Inferno are very derivative. You may want to take a look at Yahtzee's reviews.

Edit: how about Ninja Gaiden 2 or Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma? That game kind of got lost in the shuffle.

Bayonetta looks fantastic, if you like the art style and the kind of game it is. Personally I thought the whole game missed my ideal of what a good game should be. However, i'm in the minority.

Dantes Inferno I just traded in due to the incredible amount of repetition it expects from the player. Dante does upgrade but the way you play doesn't. Therefore the whole time your sitting on just the basic moves with more power. Respawning the same enemies again and again gets tiresome and some of the timed challenges are tight so you will have to do them again and again until you get it just right. Apparently the last boss is next to impossible, many people have downgraded the difficulty just to beat it. I got 80% through it, but could see i'd seen enough red walls of souls to last me a lifetime by then. By 80% its like watching paint dry.

GOW3 is exclusive to the PS3 which might mean you can't play it. I would recommend this game over all the others. Its the highest rez, most detailed epic adventure ever made on any (console) platform. After witnessing the epic scale of the game on gametrailers recently, my jaw dropped and I still haven't been able to lift it up yet.

I haven't played the other games you mentioned. They seem to be in the same vein/light.

Dante's Inferno is fun, but only for a rental. Once you're done, there's nothing to go back for. I can't say much for Darksiders, since the art style really didn't appeal to me. Bayonetta, however, is ace. It really is miles ahead of DI, at least.

No XBOX Live, and for the people adding in GOW3, I don't have a ps3.

I understand why Xbox 360 owners don't have a PS3 (especially on this site). The PS3 would open up a lot of exclusive content, not just GOW3.
