No More Heroes remake for 360/PS3

Post by Elixir »

Says it's a remake. I'm glad, because the Wii version's overworld looked like garbage. Even Vice City looked better and that was for PS2.

Apparently this was originally designed for the 360, so I'll probably order the 360 version as soon as I can. 25th of Feb isn't that far off. Preorders should be up soon.

It probably wasn't a good idea for them to announce this remake right now. The sequel is coming at the end of January, and they'll probably lose sales from people who'll wait until they remake the second one to buy it.

Well, the game wasn't anything to write home about... I guess it didn't suck, but it was shit compared to Killer 7. I'd personally never pay to play that game again, and I think Suda will be disappointed to find out that many other people are of a like mind. This is going to turn out just like GTA Chinatown Wars; the dev thinks that the game didn't sell well because it was on a Nintendo platform, so they port it to a "hardcore" platform, and it sell even worse.

I couldn't stand Killer 7 and loved No More Heroes. I'm glad more people will get to play it, even though I enjoyed the motion controls of the Wii version.

I thought it was a good game. Not a great game. It kept me entertained for a good 25 hours or so. I would PROBABLY revisit it if I didn't have a giant stack of unplayed games begging for a piece of my time.

The overworld sucked... And not just because it looked like garbage. The bigger problem was that it was essentially a giant, clunky, and inefficient level select menu.

It's great that these two ports will introduce more people to No More Heroes. But it wasn't one of the major highlights of the original game was the Wii motion controls? Seems like the lack of those is going to hurt the overall appeal of the game in these ports. Really, where else are you going to actively mimic a masturbation motion to power up your weapon (assuming no motion-sensing controls are incorporated for the PS3 version)?

Just speaking for myself, but I saw the waggle controls as something of a mess. Not to say the controls for the ps3/360 will be any more satisfying, but different might be better.

Confirmed to have dual audio in the PS3/360 releases. Not sure if it will be censored or not, it might also be optional (I'm willing to bet on it).

I really hope it'll be released here in America. I loved NMH and I think playing it without the waggle controls plus the addition of Achievements sounds interesting.

I enjoyed it enough to be interested in this if it does get a domestic release. I'm not quite interested enough to import it due to lower amounts of $ these days.

So, did anyone here play both versions? Is the gameplay ported well?

Thing is, Red Steel 2's major flaw was, for my money, inherently that a remote fails as a pretend katana merely because it's too short to be grasped by two hands of mine. This was counter-immerssive.

If No More Heroes also depicts the playable dude character wielding his weapon by two hands as he fights, I fear a similar mood-breaking effect if I choose to play it on the Wii.

I have it on the Wii & 360, but I've only played the 360 version for a couple hours. I can't say how well the port holds up because my 360 was barely working at the time (it would freeze/crash a lot), but it seemed okay (as far as graphics & controls go). Part of the reason why I liked the game on the Wii though was because of its motion controls. Normally I think they make every game worse, but I liked doing the motions for the wrestling moves in NMH. It made the combat a little more fun.

Wii motion controls work a treat in Kororinpa, Excite Truck as well as about every point & click game (from Zak & Wiki through gun games to S&P2).

Get it on the PS3. It looks better and has controller or move support.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
