I've done a review of that game down at Caltrops. It's a great game, but don't be fooled by the professional reviewers into thinking it's a bullet-hell shmup:

Would love some comments from shmup enthusiasts on my unusual take on the game.

Knights in the Nightmare
Two working class dudes, one black one white, just baked a tray of ten cookies together.
An oligarch walks in and grabs nine cookies for himself.
Then he says to the white dude "Watch out for that black dude, he wants a piece of your cookie!"

Re: Knights in the Nightmare
Great game, but not a shmup. Moving to OT.
Re: Knights in the Nightmare
Nice review. The tutorial is so, so bad. I think I did like four sections and got fed up with it, though I have acute tutorial ADD. I guess I should go back and give it a proper go some day. Until then ... Pokemon Pinball Advance and Ninja Cop!
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

That tutorial was something else...
At least it understood how complex it was and opted to give you a monstrous tutorial you didn't have to read instead of a cut-down mandatory tutorial that skips half of the mechanics.
I read the whole thing because I'm boring.

It's really not very complex at all, just unusual. The print manual will walk you through everything just fine.

The review says you've only played a few bosses in, so I'll point out that the game gets EXTREMELY bullet-hell on some of the missions towards the end game. But yeah, most of the game is more about big unique bullets and not big sprays of little bullets. It definitely works a lot better this way though.Mischief Maker wrote:I've done a review of that game down at Caltrops.
