died the stupidest death at the final form of the st. 2 boss.
because of that i finished him with a 27k counter instead with a 41k.
Holy penis, great score. I'm falling behind :(.

I intend to catch up, though. I've started no miss/no bombing stage 1, and I did a nm/1b in stage 3 in practice mode (260m with counter starting at 0). Problem is, most of my runs seem to end on stage 2 still.

edit: Right after posting this, I put in one credit and got this

Version 1.5 - X360 - Ultra - Reco
Ravid - 659,737,046 - Stage 4 - Normal

When I lost my penultimate life, I forgot that I had just got the extend and took my hands off the controller, resulting in speedy death :?

edit2:
Version 1.5 - X360 - Ultra - Reco
Ravid - 710,794,431 - Stage 4 - Normal

So switching from analog stick to dpad improved my BL Original best score quite a bit... I no-missed no-bombed until stage 5, then I did a couple of really dumb mistakes. More room for improvement!

damn that's some mighty progress at stage 3. (were did you needed the bomb? midboss?)
for a no miss i would need at least 3 bombs. my playing at the 2nd half of stage 3 still sucks.
i'm playing more stage 4 practise mode atm. (best was 300m with counter st. at 0 and 2 miss)
would be nice to get that in a full run but that will take some time.

Yeah I'm still far from consistent at the second half of stage 3; the bomb was indeed on the midboss. 260mil is pretty much automatic for a nm/1b play. I've done a bit of practice on stage 4, but I think extensive practice would be a bit pre-emptive seeing as I've only reached it like 4 times. Stage 2 is the one that still takes most of my lives, those icicles are a bitch with Reco.

So what's a good/decent score progression for Abnormal Palm in original? I'm unable to connect my 360 to live so I can't download a replay so thats out. I top out at 17 million at the end of the first stage and 57 at the end of the second and my best after stage 3 is ~100. After that it goes downhill because panic bombing kills my stage counter.

Also, how do you reliably trigger the ground gems on the third boss? It seems like sometime it gives me them and other times it doesn't, even when using the correct shot to trigger the large gold.

The further reflections are based on my own progress w/ Abnormal Palm, with Original being the mode I've dedicated myself to:

17mil is okay for St. 1, I manage 63~mil after stage 2, you can aim towards getting the first extend before or after defeating the mid-boss in stage 2. I usually get it a little bit after, but before the final stalactite formation. After stage 3 I've managed 113 or so (if everything follows through right.) So I'd say you're doing averagely right now.

I recently got to watch the best Abnormal Palm Orig. replay on Live and he scores 380mil w/ Lx1 I believe. Watching it has brought a new era of failure to my runs though, since I've been trying to do things like wait for certain waves of enemies or herd in certain ways, also, aggrivating the insect nests in St. 3 for some more gems, and milking the squids from the stalactites in St. 2 (though that's not as hard).

For the third boss, just use C shot for the kill-move to get those gems, irregardless of the color of the counter. But you're gonna want to try to correlate with the shot color for the large gems, anyhow.

Ah, well I wrote down some of that guy's end-stage scores for reference:
st. 2 - 78M
st. 3 - 133M
st. 4 - 221M
st. 5 - 380M

Yay! Died in stage 3 which is always a bummer but I no-missed up to St. 5 or so and netted some good points. I can still improve this score.

2 mil more and this would be totally happiness.
played the st. 4 boss like an idiot because i notice i could nail that next digit and started panic bombing & one stupid death.
well guess it's time for some serious stage 5 practise.

wtf look's like my last score gave you a boost in motivation.
now that will be quite something to beat.
my theoretical max after stage 4 should be ~1,2bil.
hope i can catch up with that after some st. 5 practise.

now let's take a look at your replay what you've done there.
