I was playing Halo 2 online earlier tonight with my mate, who like me, is a bit of a novice when it comes to X-Box live.
We played a couple of American guys in a double-team match and to begin with everything seemed ok. We were a couple of mins into the match when all of a sudden, their movement seemed to speed up. Drastically. They were wizzin' all over the screen at a rate of knots and we couln't see em' let alone hit em'!
On top of this, they also appeared to now have the talent to kill with one shot but they were'nt using either the sniper rifle or rocket launcher!?!?
Like i said, i'm a novice on X-Box live but i finished Halo 2 in 3 days and i don't remember any power-ups that gave me any of these powers. Were we cheated or is this something that everyone knows about apart from me. And my mate.
Was i robbed on Halo 2?

Sounds like cheaters. Report 'em as cheaters on XBox Live feedback, and also try h2cheats@microsoft.com
I did think they were cheating, but i also had a degree of doubt telling me that everyone knew about this and i was just useless at Halo 2!
Thanks for replenishing my self-esteem!

Sounds like the result of lag right there. I used to see that shit in UT a lot.adam76 wrote:IWe were a couple of mins into the match when all of a sudden, their movement seemed to speed up. Nah, if it was lag they'd appear to be teleporting around, not just running faster than they should - you wouldn't be able to follow their movement on the screen because they'd keep disappearing then reappearing.
It does sound like modding. The most common mods around seem to be flying warthogs, one-shot-kills with weapons other than snipers and super-speed characters.
Can you remember which map it happened on? If it was Warlock, then it's almost guaranteed to be cheaters.

It was Warlock actually, i just checked. Why would it make a difference what map it was on?E. Also, not to sound too dumb, but what do you mean by modding-is it like downloading a patch for the game or is it simply just cheating via an action replay or somesuch device?

Yeah, sort of like a patch. Modding's what happens with stuff like Half-Life and Quake - you know, where somebody creates a new skin for the characters in those games, or adds a grappling hook to the levels. Or creates an entirely new game from the structure of the old one - Counterstrike started life as a Half-Life mod.
If it was Warlock, then I'd say that you were almost certainly cheated. Here's why:
The problem in Halo 2 is mainly with the downloadable maps. Because they're stored on your Xbox hard drive, people with chipped/soft-modded consoles can modify the properties of the levels. They can't do it on the original maps that shipped with the game, because they're stored on the DVD, and so the code isn't accessible. So you need to watch out for iffy stuff on Warlock, Containment, Sanctuary and Turf. And the other new maps, when they're released later this week.
Take a look around bungie.net - there's a lot more on this there.
