Rarest Shmup Pcbs?

Post by Guest »

I was wondering what were the rarest pcbs.

Stating the obvious Dodonpachi Campaign Version and Dodonpachi Black Label would be very rare or near impossible to find.

Fill me in with your thoughts.

I think the rarity of the ddp doj black label pcb is a myth. I have seen at least 10 for sale over the past few years. If there were only 100 ever made, no one would sell them for $1100.

The campaign version is really rare. Nai has one. Probably a few people at cave have the pcb as well.

Data East's Darwin 4078 PCB is another rare shmup PCB...

You might as well count Data East's Darwin 4078 PCB as another rare shmup PCB, it is extremely rare to find one with the original story card and instruction card included (which I do have). I recall that Malc is the only other shmupper to own a Darwin 4078 PCB besides myself.

Taito also brought out a special Darius-G competition contest PCB that I've seen for sale once on eBay last year. It had some stages that were specially made just for the Darius-G contest held in Japan when it was first released. It went for $275.00+ easily on eBay when the auction ended.

Believe it or not, there's not a ton of rare shooter PCBs when you compare to them to other obscure games. Sure they can get costly, but they're not the most painful genre to collect for in the PCB world.

No real genre per se. There's a handful of old Konami, Namco, Data East, etc. boards that run about 30,000 yen in PCB shops. Even Nintendo's vs boards (in Japan) are all over 15,000 yen. Just look at Mak Japan's PCB list and see. Keep in mind they're about 15-20% higher than YJ, but still pricey.

One guy on Assembler was looking for a Hautned Castle / Akumajo Dracula PCB. DIdnt' want to pay the $300 or so for the US board, so looked around for a Japanese one. Mak had one for 89,000 yen. G-Front for 92,000. O_o

Gain Ground (System24) can fetch about 90,000 yen on YJ... about 120,000 in the shops.
