So you are implying that Galuda 2 isn't as hard as everybody claims it is?yyr wrote: I know folks here are talking about how Galuda 2 is much more difficult than the first, but those two gameplay elements were big reasons why Galuda 1 was much easier to progress in than many (or most) other Cave shmups, and they're still around in the sequel. For the record, I too am stuck on the 3rd stage of both Futari Original modes, but I've reached the final boss in Galuda 1. I expect that I won't be able to get quite so far in the sequel (at least, not right away), but I'd like to think that I'll see past stage 3, at least!
If you're already struggling with Stage 3 in Futari, this game will beat you down.

God damn! 4 360s? I'd be totally happy with just one (a japanese one obviously)...should of got a Japanese one in the first place I suppose. I'm playing with the TE Fightstick as well after I short-circuited my custom stick's controller's brain on a solder attempt. I added a thin layer of cardboard to all 4 microswitches on the sanwa for quicker response and streched the spring out as well. Next step, I'm gonna get some el sheet in size A4 to light it up as I've seen someone do with a Tron (hori) stick on the Shoryuken site. I'm thinking a Futari theme however...Special World wrote:God, I know. I have four 360s in my room right now -_____________________________-
And the damn TE Fightstick, which should count as one because it could double as the fucking monolith from 2001.

Elites are the black 360s. Basically, anything that isn't the Jasper or the Falcon, which were the name of the two recent models. Hell if I know what the old ones were called though.

Re: Espgaluda II
And that is the real reason I got the U.S. console, ultimately a mistake... My ps3 20gb BC first generation which I basically only used for Gradius IV died and I became sick at the fact that it would cost me 150 to fix with Sony denying the fact that these early units had heating problems and furthermore giving me back perhaps a refurbished one that was not BC. I looked at the Motherboard myself and it was scorched. I was about to go for the Japanese 360 but thoughts of the ps3 entered my head. I heard that as long as the 360 was domestic, Microsoft would always fix these units for free long after the 90 day warranty. Which led to my mistake.... NO Espgaluda for me, but I do have a nice Jasper Elite that has infinite lives I suppose...

Whatever it is called my 2005 console is still going strong, and only 2 RROD

Yes the first ones are called Xenon, but unlike you mine has only 1 RROD and still working after sending it for repairs and getting the same system. Since then it is been in its box.consoleretro wrote:Was it Xenon??SFKhoa wrote:Elites are the black 360s. Going back on topic only 3 more weeks for the game. I can't really wait since IMO Espgaluda has a better art style than Futari. I haven't tried this one in the arcades but I have played a lot of the first one on my PS2 and it is a blast.
I dunno but I am more excited for this game than any other big budget American release (cough, ME2, cough).

Opus is a motherboard replacement for older models.

http://www.siliconera.com/2010/02/12...eas-expansion/
How lame is that? I bet this won't last long and everyone in Europe and the UK gets ignored as usual.Makota Asada: Mushihime-sama Futari was our first region-free game and we were happy enough with the response to finalize our plans for the US release of Deathsmiles. Ultimately, releasing the game region free doesn’t make as much sense to us as localizing our games and building a real fanbase overseas. That doesn’t mean that we’re only going to release games in the US of course, it really depends on interest from fans.

Is it really unexpected? I still fail to understand how you can be a serious fan of this genre 10 years ago (15 even) and not have a multi-region (or different region) console...much less now.

Re: Espgaluda II
Well depending on how well Deathsmiles does in America there is a good chance Espgaluda II will be picked up by Aksys. But it looks like for the time being that Europe is going to be completely shut out. Oh well good job I got a Japanese 360.

I guess I fail to see the point then. It's been pointed out before that there's more than just flipping a flag in the code to allow a game to be region free.Kron wrote:I agree but its not the point is it.
EDIT: I'm not saying it doesn't suck. It's just not a surprise in the least.

Re: Espgaluda II
why would you buy a US or PAL region XBOX 360 if you like shmups? unless you prefer to play those fancy 3D modern games instead. in which case it wont bother you you cant play a few shmups that come out in Japan.
Re: Espgaluda II
JP 360 owners also get the advantage of playing the game months (or years) before the US localization comes out (if it ever does). Of course, it's more expensive, but nobody ever said shmups were a cheap hobby.
Re: Espgaluda II
what, its not more expensive than buying a US/PAL XBOX360 on release! oh, boohoo, you pay around £100 more for the console to have it imported, the games are not really any more expensive than UK releases, if you buy from Play Asia. so the whole reason people cant play the latest x360 shmup releases is obviously becasue they prefer to play the mass-marketed 3D games like Modern Warfare 2, otherwise they wouldnt have bought an US/PAL 360. i remember the days of the Super Famicom and PC Engine, import gaming was on a whole nother price level. SFII on SFC cost like £90 on release through importers, thats around $150. we have it cheap nowdays due to the rise of the internet and "globalisation". and perfect ports, too, comparitively speaking.

Re: Espgaluda II
For DS specifically, the cost of the JPN game on release is about double what the US retail price is, and that's w/o figuring in the DLC which is reportedly on the US disc. DS was selling from import shops for $80-ish, right?

Re: Espgaluda II
Death Smiles was $70 from Play Asia. New release games in the UK are £40/$65, so it doesnt realy cost any more to import, dont know why so many people are adverse to doing so, and insist on buying domestic consoles, then waste their time by starting region-free petition threads.

Re: Espgaluda II
The import systems are more expensive. That was what held me back for a while. Then when Deathsmiles was about to come out, i said "Fuck it" and bought one anyway.
For example, the Xbox 360 Arcade version in the U.S. retails for 199.99 The Japanese Xbox 360 Arcade version was on NCSX for 399.99 at the time I bought my JPN system, and is now 319.99 plus obnoxious shipping costs.

So basically double for US members then still after you consider shipping. I'm not sure how MSRP works in the states these days, but it's almost always 500 yen or so cheaper once you actually get to the store (if you go to the right one).DC906270 wrote:Death Smiles was $70 from Play Asia. Re: Espgaluda II
no, unless you enjoy waiting over a year for your game, which may/may not ever be localized. this type of release only suits the casual shmup gamer, who prefers to play mass-market 3D games, anyway, but can pick up a cheap Death Smiles purely by some fluke of accident that its getting a US release , bizarrely. Most shmup fans will have a JPN 360 and will already have the game.GaijinPunch wrote:So basically double for US members
Re: Espgaluda II
Part of the reason people don't want to import a J360 is the build quality of the machine itself and all the complications getting an import machine fixed IF it were to go wrong - let alone the whole dlc being tied to the original machine it was downloaded onto/with.... whatever. It's a bit of a mess, and all this on top of the price - which is worse in Europe. PS2 didn't have this probelm - Swap Magic anyone? still using mine. BUT it's worth it if you love the games.
Anyhow, back on topic - for some reason I'm not as stoked about ESP2... only a couple of weeks away and still nothing. The original was my favourite PS2 port...Waiting for Futari was a pain, counting the days an' all that guff. I'm hoping ESP2 is a bit more "fun" than Futari in the scoring department... maybe I'm being naive.

Now it is a bit more complex but you can do the Jtag mode (if possible) and there will be no need to import a system. You will neither worry about the DLC.durango76 wrote:Part of the reason people don't want to import a J360 is the build quality of the machine itself and all the complications getting an import machine fixed IF it were to go wrong - let alone the whole dlc being tied to the original machine it was downloaded onto/with.... whatever. almost all USA games aren't region locked..... I have bought many a US game without fear. I honestly don't know why any shooter fan would not get an import 360.unless you prefer to play those fancy 3D modern games instead.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

This is true where shipping is $10 which isn't unheard of for international shipping. If you count MBL, the JPN version is more than double.
