Which display is the most arcade accurate?

Post by dakonishi »

These are two outputs I get in full screen though mame. Which one is the closest to an arcade display?

The scaling isn't distorting anything, so go with the full screen one.

the bottom ones seem to look a little "softer"(?) to me, which would match how arcade crts are never quite as sharp as computer ones. Other than that, they look pretty much identical to me. Are there more scan lines on the full screen ones? Do the full screen ones ripple when they scroll? (or the small ones, for that matter).

maybe you could use just the right amount and size of scan lines, and then unfocus your monitor a little bit. Then it would look like an arcade crt.

You can also load your own scanline image. Check Fudoh's one on this post

looks nicer than the default Mame scanlines.

No ripple when scolling.

To get an similar scanline look, do I use 75% scanlines?
