Please, for the love of all that is holy (and unholy even), DO NOT BUY MADCATZ. I worked at a video game store for two years and I can state with absolute certainty - Matcatz is crap. Their controllers are horrible, their memory cards fail, and their RF adapters (yes, even RF units) are shoddy. Save up for the monster cables, you'll be thankful you did.

I'd love to, but there's no way I can afford it right now. I'll have to grit my teeth and leave without one I'm afraid.

I'm going out to California for a few days here (starting tomorrow, actually) and I'm going to do all my mailing after that. I have to pay for all my own shipping fees though. :?

Why not ship a container? It's not that expensive when you think about it, and you could ship big things. I shipped my whole freakin' home (bed, sofa, big ass TV, desk, 2 computers, dining room table, shelves, a few boxes of clothes, a tons of games and everything else) for like 60-man. For 10 you could surely do a TV, a respectable amount of games & systems, some green tea, a bottle of CC Lemon and even a pair of used panties or two.

The CC Lemon and used panties go by EMS man, EMS. Gotta make sure the good stuff gets home safely.

Actually, all my furniture is staying as it's part of the apartment, and the majority of my games are going by EMS, since the last time I sent games via non-express mail, a bunch got totally smashed. :?

Thank you! Agreed! And the bullet curtains in Level 5 would make a Psyvariar player swoon! :)
If people try and justify conversions like Gigawing generations then it will simply give developers even less incentive to make future ports as good as possible.

I can't fathom how people can call something adequate when essentially it runs like a game thats badly emulated with frameskip.

Anyway its great news about Mushi and I've just payed for the pre-order :D
Umm, as I recall the arrcade DID THE SAME THING for gigawing generations! So the port is in fact accurate! Have any of you who badmouthed it actually played the arcade version to compare?

Ok, maybe not Madcatz, but i've had much better results with Monster cables than stock Sony ones.

That's because Monster has always been the top-of-the-line exclusive for teh hardcore users brand, while Sony/other first-party manufacturers are just "very good" or a sort of (often high) standard.

All other third-party labels are almost certain to be crap. They're cheap knock-offs trying to fool you into thinking they're as good as the original.

Sony has the best, by far, RGB cable on the european market. The original grey Euro AV cable is thick as hell*. Don't discount Sony's own products. If it weren't for Monster they'd be the best, by far. (And they are, in Europe, because of the thicker-than-everything-else Euro AV cable and the fact that Monster isn't on that market)

*unfortunately the black ones, designed to match the PS2, are not as thick, but still better than 99% of what else is out there

I hope the back cover isn't an indication that Taito have omitted a Tate mode again :(

As has been mentioned before, it is not Taito, it is CAVE that is doing the conversion. Blame Cave for a potentially missing TATE mode!

Not really. And indeed, that backcover confirms that Cave is not behind this port.

If Taito did not include Tate it will be unforgivable.

Don't judge tateness based on that - there aren't any images in TATE in either DOJ or Galuda's backcover either.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I think we should just chill. I really don't think they would release a Cave game and not have tate. Cave would pitch a bloody fit!

True. In fact, it's somewhat rare that a vertical game will have tate screens on the back.

Anyway, again, in the Arcadia article on the PS2 port all the screens are tate. This is about as big as a shmup release gets, and I seriously doubt they're going to miss much of anything.

Basically. The only thing ever said was by Mihara, and even then he didn't come out and say that Cave was doing the port. He said they'd be the best ones to do the port.

Based on what can be seen on the back cover.

(1) It supports 2 players playing at the same time.
(2) It can save high scores.
(3) It has pratice mode.
(4) An extra option setting allow you to ??change weapon mode during play??
(5) It support dual shock 2.
(6) It is on a DVD-Rom.

At lease we can now rest assured that the game is on a DVD-Rom.

There is nothing about the TATE though, but I think a Vertical shooters on DVD-Rom would very likely comes with that feature though.

That info was out months ago.

Indeed. I would bet my house on it that it does have TATE mode... I don't own a house though.

I don't think so. It says you can change what weapon you have equipped. First time I'm hearing this, but it's mentioned in the same sentence as the "auto-bomb" feature.

EDIT: How do I download from your site? Those ESPGaluda scores are amazing.

I also don't think we need to worry about tate. GWG is the only vertical shmup from japan in recent times that DIDN'T include tate. Combine this with the massive popularity of the game (for a shmup anyway), and that every port of every cave game that has ever been made has included tate leads me to the sam conclusion as GaijinPunch: namely, there's a snowball's chance in hell of it not having tate.

Oh yeah, that and the ps2 pictures of it being in tate. Yeah.

that its on dvd means absolutely nothing for tate mode, other than possibly having dvd video streams for yoko/tate replays (which would be pointless if it has the doj style live replay thing).

I would rather just have a bunch of replays. The DVD quality of DOJ & Galuda was pretty bad.

EDIT: Wish this was happening.
