I am not driving over to KC,KS just so we can have your cab at the meet!

Do you have some close relatives with a bitchin' Ford Windstar or Chrysler Town & Country???
Well, I don't have a truck or anything capable of hauling a cab, and don't have any relatives or friends that do, so we'd need someone who does to swing by my place. I definitely understand you not wanting to waste 4-5 hours just to drive over and back for a cab.

Unless someone is planning to attend who will be passing through KC and has a truck I don't see my cab making it there.

I don't have that Genesis flashcart anymore, best I could do is emulating it on the Wii.

So I assume from this post that you are going to make it to the meet? :D

Hey, a meet! Perhaps I can make it to this one; I missed out on the last one a while ago. I've been out of the shmups scene and back into RPGs (being married now doesn't help much either) so all I have to contribute is a Mars Matrix board or R-Type (but that's bloody huge and rather well mounted in my cab). I have all the console stuff imaginable (including an NTSC-J 360), but who needs ports when the ORIGINALS are going to available!

I can't say right now whether I'll be able to make it or not (if so, it'd be my wife and I both - unfortunately for you all who are hoping for someone to beat, she tends to be *better* than me [though that's not saying much]). Hopefully there's still space available for another couple people! If there's anything I'd be able to bring, please let me know. I have an HD Box Pro and a decent 24" LCD monitor or a good 21" CRT monitor that I could bring as an extra display at least, and I know in my parts pile I have a power supply and a JAMMA loom - I might be able to throw together a crappy supergun if needed.

We would like to see you there, Aleanil! We certainly have the pcbs and consoles covered, but we definitely need players! I will be sending out PMs once we get closer to the date, so mark your calendars and try to make this event. It will be insane if we can get brentsg to show up and if he cannot physically be here I am going to drive to St. Louis and rent his boards the day before!

Should we have a contest with prizes for this event? I have a double of an NES game that might be suitable as a prize. Nothing very expensive, $2, but I figured it might be fun.

Well, I have an Ibara PCB I can bring up now, though I guess if someone is bringing up the Black Label version, there may not be much interest in it.

Hey, as long as it is a shmup, there will always be interest shown. Plus, it would be great to have it there and see the major differences between vanilla, and black label. I have parted with my Ibara again, so bring it on over.

I have made a few changes down in the man-cave, and this has opened up some space. I believe we will have enough room for the gaming insanity now! Wife and kids will be shipped out to the in-laws, so that will lock in the official location!

Shmupmeet will now be held at the gunbird18 command center!!! This is getting better and better!

Now, if I can just be sure that brentsg is going to be here with all of the Cave madness, I will be in a state of heavenly bliss!

So we have 2 cabinets for sure correct? I'm just worried we might need some serious firepower to justify the amount of boards we will be having. That being said, I might be able to arrange for the firepower just transportation would be the issue. How much room for cabinets will you have Todd? I might be able to bring a few.

A few???

Seriously, I would have room for a number of cabs. We would just place them along the walls.

Also, if anyone can spot you a mini van, say, early 2000 models and beyond, all you have to do is take out the bench seat and the two chairs and you should be able to squeeze 2 Astro cabs in there! I can easily fit 2 folded pinball machines in my Windstar, so if I would try taking 2 Egrets to a meet, I bet I could come up with a configuration that works.

I can't believe I hauled my E2 to drbooms Winter Carnival, but it took the ride very well!

It's looking ok from my perspective, but who knows it's early yet. I also parted with my Ibara recently.. along with Futari 1.5, so I'm meh on those personally.

I'm not sure if anyone follows Nico or Cave-STG but it's been confirmed that DaiFukkatsu Black Label is a Yagawa title, and it's quite good.

Depending on how much it would cost me to rent a truck via work, probably like $40 for the weekend, then I could possibly bring 3 cabinets. The Aero Table sadly would not be one of them, but I'd bring my Astro City, Neo MVS-U4, and my Aero City. The Aero City poses problems as it is not at my house, and once I move it from Joe T.'s house I will need to find somewhere to store it.

That would be awesome, caldwert! I would certainly be willing to help out with some of the financial burden if you can secure the truck!

I think the Astro and Neo will do just fine. Assuming the Astro is vert and the Neo would be good for all the horis, that should lessen the burden for the two cabs that are guaranteed to be there. And I was going to refuse the Aero Table at my door. There is no way I am going to carry that 2 ton piece of awesomeness again!

Everybody is ditching their Ibaras??? I can't say anything since I let go of mine. And now I am really cussing myself with all the new debug info on the Yagawa/Cave games! :x

Hmmmm, well 2 cabinets is doable. We'll just have to see if I pick up Joe T.'s Super Neo Candy. Either way I'm trying to juggle cabinets at the moment. I'll have to see what transpires. My Astro City is kinda ghetto but functional. I really need to either sell or loan out a cabinet.

Ok, if I rent a truck, then I can possibly bring 3 cabinets assuming they will fit standing up inside a cargo van. No Aero Table as I am not moving that out of this basement unless I'm moving or selling it. The Neo Geo and Aero City will be torturous enough. So the potential attendees are my Astro City, my MVS U4 with Jamma adapter which doesn't work with everything but will do CPS2, and an old Aero City. The only MVS shooters I have are Shock Troopers 1 and 2 if you count those, Slugs 1, X, 3, and 4, Strikers 1945 Plus, and Ninja Commando if you count that as well. The MVS would be good for a dedicated Progear cabinet or to play any other hori shooters that will work on it. Lets hear anyone's thoughts.

I have a Mars Matrix board that'd fit in the MVS as well ;) Plus, if you rent a truck I'd be happy to pitch in some cash to help defray the costs for it.

I already have Mars Matrix, but it might actually be helpful if I don't tote all myself to Gunbird's house, so I don't have to lug too much crap around. That's cool about pitching in on the truck. It shouldn't cost too much really. I work at Enterprise/Alamo/National's world HQ anyway, so I do get the somewhat employee discount.

edit: didn't want to sound snobby about the Mars Matrix, it is definitely one of the boards I was planning on bringing, one of my favorites

Also, I will be able to bring some shooters that are pretty rare, I will have to get a list from my friend, but he has 3 or 4 oddball games that I've never played anywhere else. I know Ninja Emaki, Air Raid, Air Buster, and Space Bomber are the titles I can think of off the top of my head. Ninja Emaki is total awesomeness. I've yet to play the other three. He might come with me, but even if he can't show up, he's willing to let me take his boards to the meet.

This keeps getting better and better!!!

@caldwert-Don't break your back on all of these cabs. I think 4 cabs will give us plenty of action. So 2 of yours and my E2 plus drbooms Astro should be sufficient. And if anyone gets tired of the cabs, it sounds like we have about 50 consoles making an appearance, so no worries about people just standing around.

Just think, people, 3 Verts and a Hori cab. I cannot wait! I am having dreams of playing Ketsui again and trying out DFK for the first time!

Please make sure you have time off for this meet! Have people take care of your pets, leave your kids with your girlfriend/wife, bring your girlfriend/wife and she will be amazed at our knowledge of pcbs and how much they cost and how rare they are. She will be mesmerized by our knowledge of who developed the game and who wrote the soundtrack and who is this amazing artist that can make a 13 year old girl look like a developed grown woman...

It is safe to say that there will be nothing quite like this shmupmeet within a 500 mile radius...

Well, I might be able to actually bring 2 Astro City's. My original one is with the guy who's letting me borrow those boards. It is a hell of a lot easier to move an Astro City than the metal cabinets. That would mean missing out on all that is MVS gaming, but that's not a big loss to me really.

Okay, there seems to be some sort of misunderstanding here... :?

If you are thinking this is going to be some kind of Shmups/eHarmony mixer, you are going to be very disappointed.

Even if we had some hotties at this meet, I am not ashamed to admit, I will only have eyes for Ketsui and DFK.
