Hell ! I think the tournament will take two days.
I think you should be calling this a shmupmeet rather than a tournament (judging from the last two videos). We don't want another click-stick type misunderstanding. :D

BTW: Congrats on the new boards!

Was debt leading you to depression or the fact that the PCBs did not fullfill your needs ?

I'm guessing the USB key is precisely to prevent people from copying the games and cheating the system. In other words, your HDD gets fuxxored. you get fuxxored too. And I'm willing to bet that if you buy a replacement HDD even of the same game that you lost, it will not work without its own key. Of course, that HDD might have its own key. But if you lose the key...

I think I will stick to old style PCBs with an ARM or Motorola 68000 chip as CPU.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

RFK.....or anyone else who knows.....

How easy is it to connect the Type-X to an older jamma cab. I have an egret-29 and I know the Type-X wont fit in the cab but if I let it sit outside the cab everything should work. How does the Type-X connect to my jamma connector?

So maybe the Type-X has got a SCSI HD or at least a high quality HD, I'm sure they don't put in a $50 8 GB HD in there right?

As far as people bashing the purchase itself.
When you have the maney, you will satisfy your curiousity.
I think it is great that people still do I-don't-give-a-fuck things.

At the very least you OWE IT TO US to record a Gameplay vid. None of the Vert-Video crap, as that screws with my Video Encoding...do it normal like the rest.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

I will make some screenshots from Raiden 3 today (dont panic).

Both games are really brilliant.

I played with STA (www.arcadebase.de) about 8 hours.
We began with Raiden 3, switched to the Astro City cab and played Ibara.
We finished our shmupmeeting with Raiden Fighters Jet and Storm of Progear (trainingsession for the next rfk tournament...ah...sorry...the eurolamer shmupmeeting :D  )

Raiden 3:
You can gain a "quick shot" bonus for every enemy.

Ibara:
The medalscoresystem is very similar to the system of Raiden Fighters Jet and Battle Garegga (dont let a single medal slip past you).

The tactical smartbombe feature is brilliant.
Dont miss the boss...he really gets angry.
The boss can withdraw if you cant finish him in time.

Some people asked me how much the games cost at the moment.

Raiden 3 ca. 2.400 us dollar
Ibara ca. 2.300 us dollar

Greetings
RFK

PS:
Stay tuned. DEF will host his video in a few hours.

Hi !

Thx to Def for the funny video.

I have also edited my first posting.

@Def: We have to make some pure gameplay videos before the shmup community will lynch us.

making the video ... priceless.

WOW

Ibara = Garegga 3
Looks so great I cannot imagine seeing a conversion. But it wil happen right?

If it won't happen it will be because the game is too great, like The Raiden Fighters series. Not meant to happen.

I haven't seen a video this good in a long, long time.

Raiden III is coming to Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox apparently. I can't wait.

All three? Really?

I'll be happy if only one of them comes out, and it's close to arcade perfection. :)

"Apparently" meaning this information is from what I've heard. PS2 is most likely, but there have been mentions of the other two from various corners of the internet also.

Ignorant-type, two-part question:

If Ibara = Garegga 3, then

(i) Does Battle Garegga = Garegga 1 or 2?
(ii) What's the third game?

I dunno. I think I'd lean toward Armed Police Batrider as the more true Garegga sequel. It looks closer, feels closer, and had more of the same team working on it.

While I have no issue with that review in general (well written and informative), I'd like to mention that Raizing was made up of ex-Toaplan developers, not ex-Compile. (Although some Compile probably sneaked in...)

And I agree. The only thing Bakraid has in common with Garegga is the constant suiciding. Batrider has more common gameplay elements and feels more like a Garegga successor than Bakraid.

Raidenfighter Kirkov, how small are the shrapnel and are they visible or invisible(or hard to see during large bullet streams), i mean how big or small are the shrapnels after destroying enemies, and have you pass level 1 yet. It will be great if this game comes out in Jan 2006 for PS2.

Like all games, if you know what to expect you will be at a tremendous advantage. Shrapnel makes things hard to see, there are some small blue and purple bullets that are circular and very problematic. However if you remember what enemies shoot these small bullets and where they are in the level, you shouldn't have too much trouble seeing them and then dodging them. You need to anticipate what is going to happen.

The boss attacks can be extremely nasty. If you do not know where to be to avoid certain attacks and how to take care of the bosses quickly, you will die period.

Ibara has some game modes also that can be selected by performing certain actions when you hit start:

holding the joystick up makes the game harder
holding the joystick down gives you a 2 loop game
holding down a, b, or a+b changes the characteristics of the bomb and ship.

Hi !

Yes it does.

You can connect the Taito Type X directly to your naomi cabinet or to any jamma cabinet via a sega i / o or a capcom converter board.
