Agreed, not even in the same league. The OST is amusing too, as it gives Shock Troopers 2 top billing - I always have to skip 18 tracks to get to the good stuff.

When my local arcade had 2nd Squad, it had a near life-sized standup cutout of Angel (and the other characters) right next to it. It was ... pretty damn distracting.
Where's my Angel dakimakura? :(

EDIT:

Oh god, why is this my first post?

Music in the second game is fucking fantastic. I have this wierd bork reaction on pre rendred stuff if its not done right (which is most of the time) Took me ages to actually get my head around it and get over the initial looks of the game.

I'm probably weird for playing the second one more, but it's probably because Angel's in it.

Also, Arms company > Terrorist organization. No exceptions.

And it has a shitload of cool unused stuff if you flip all the debug dipswitches on. Stuff like ninjas and giant buff guys with chaingun tonfas and scars or whatever. Two stages were unused (!!).

And lastly, I hate how the first has you fighting lone guys with tons of HP...I mean, come on, shouldn't they go down just as easily as anyone else?

and thus reverse talks himself out of being weird...again...

It has been a while since I played, but don't they go down pretty quick? If you don't overkill them, that is. But the death animations are too awesome not to overkill. And I thought they'll insta-kill with a melee attack, which is what gives you the extra points and items anyway. Waiting for BBH to comment...

And spadgy I hope you didn't blow a wad (of cash) just to ogle Angel's assets, there must be less expensive ways to do that..!

I've not seen the second one but the first ones got some heavy D'n'B tunes, the person who did the soundtrack must have been well up to date with the tunes that were around in the UK at the time, some of those tunes would have been very contemporary in 97

Nah - not at all. I've just been playing the first a hell of a lot at the moment, and really wanted some more of the same. Overhead run-and-guns is one of the genres me and my wife like to play two-player co-op, but it's not the largest genre, so I just wanted some more gaming that I could share with 'er indoors.

My ST2 kit has arrived in amazing minty condition, so I'm happy, but I'm yet to play it...
