The Wizard of New Zealand

Post by Ed Oscuro »

I was blathering on about digital photography to Arasoi (very interesting I'm sure) and linking random things, and ran into THIS again.

Check the January 12 entry.

Yes / no / maybe?

I've never heard of him despite living in NZ for a really long time. He sounds like a great comedian.

im more shocked that he seems to think that he is THE wizzard on NZ. I doubt the other wizards of New Zealand are going to be too happy about this. See now if I called myself The wizard of England I would have some very pissed off Gandalf types bashing in my door with there staffs for sure.

just a thought.

^ I sometimes bump into a chap in pubs who calls himself The Poet just because he scrawls a few stanzas on a notepad for punters who'll buy him a pint. I asked him to write me a poem about "an unfathomably powerful laser cannon in space", and it was pretty heroic, but I lost it.

History of the guy behind the character: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_of_New_Zealand

He used to pop up in newsbites on tv in the 80s, but his presence has really not been felt at all in the last couple of decades. New Zealand doesn't really need a wizard anymore, I guess.

For some reason, I was thinking "The Wizard of New Zealand Story" when I saw this topic. I thought it was going to be about an expert at that game.
