Noob question: Fourth button?

Post by kyuzo »

So I picked up DDP DFK, and I realized this is the first non-CPS game that own that uses more than three buttons... I'll be using it in my Capcom Impress, any chance it'll just work? I thought JAMMA only officially supported three buttons, but all mentions of DDP DFK that I've seen seem to indicate it just has a normal JAMMA connector, am I just missing something obvious?

If I do need to change something, what's the least intrusive way to set that up? I can't really think of any easily changeable way to hook this up besides making a CPS2 (JAMMA + kick) harness to DDP DFK JAMMA harness, which seems pretty tedious... Or does it just use "officially unused" pins that are pretty much the same for all games in that I can just splice the fourth buttons wire that goes to the kick harness and solder it to my JAMMA connector?

Again, apologies for the stupid question, I swear this has to be answered somewhere else but I can't seem to find anything...

Officially unused pins. The ones next to button three on the harness - same as the NeoGeo

Oh ok, that makes sense. Too bad my NeoGeo motherboard is gonna be in the same shipment as DFK or I could double check whether it works or not :) I guess I can at least check whether those pins are wired at all...

Thanks :)
