They could also add the new MegaBlack Label 1.1. Are they going to make a 3rd release including that one too??hirounder wrote:Meanwhile, looks like japanese are getting Deathsmiles Platinum Collection with MBL included on the disc for 3990yen, April 8th.

Even if I already own the game I will buy just because I hate digital content.

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
Wow, I'm actually getting kinda tired of hearing about fucking DeathSmiles by this point. I love the game to death (no pun intended) but I'm really don't understand why they're all of a sudden giving all this attention to it. Come on with DeathSmiles II already, Cave, most people who want to play DeathSmiles already have it.

I, too, wish people would stop talking about deathsmiles news in a deathsmiles thread.

It has nothing to do with this thread specifically, its all over the internet and on multiple forums that I go to. Thanks for the snarky reply though, I always expect an unnecessary, cute comment from you.Elixir wrote:I, too, wish people would stop talking about deathsmiles news in a deathsmiles thread.

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
Hmm...well, I wonder which one I should get? The U.S. one, or the J one? I'm guessing the U.S. version may have some censorship, even if it's very minor(age deletions).
You know, while they're at it, they should add some of the filters that Futari had to the Arcade mode in DS. Otherwise, I think they should just leave it out for the U.S. release. It's shameful.

It's hard to feel sympathetic with someone who actively seeks out various forums catering to specific games which are obviously going to be spoken about, then complains in said threads about the games being discussed.MachineAres 1CC wrote:It has nothing to do with this thread specifically, its all over the internet and on multiple forums that I go to. Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
So it'd be better if these sites totally ignored the fact that for the first time ever a Cave shmup is hitting the States?I'm really don't understand why they're all of a sudden giving all this attention to it.
I don't really see your logic, perhaps you want these games to be kept a secret from the masses... I think it's quite understandable that the game has a bit of hype behind it, hopefully this will raise the interest and lead to successful sales.
Sure some of us already imported a J360 for Deathsmiles (and some others)... ohhh wait, is that why all the Deathsmiles news is bothering you, because it turns out you didn't need to import the system to play it (could be wrong, just a suspicion). I think you are wrong about how most people who want to play it already have it (it's a small group compared to the 360 population who might want top pick this up at an affordable price).
The only thing about Deathsmiles USA that bothers me is how some angry fans are complaining that they waisted $500+ on importing a system to play it. I guess it does suck if it was your second 360 and you aren't interested in an other region-locked games.

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
It has nothing to do with things being a "secret" I just hate to see a good developer like Cave waste their time on localizing and trying to release one of their games in the a market where they have no fighting chance to actually succeed by any decent level. Its just a shame to see them do this when they could be porting some of their newer or more popular games that are highly in demand (Ketsui, MMP, DFK, I'm looking at you.)chempop wrote:I don't really see your logic, perhaps you want these games to be kept a secret from the masses... Very. I bought my system to play about 7 other games before I even bought DeathSmiles, it was basically at the end of my must have imports list, and all of those other games still are not available in the US, so no.is that why all the Deathsmiles news is bothering you, because it turns out you didn't need to import the system to play it (could be wrong, just a suspicion).

This is awesome! Can't wait to here more news about this.
Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
The idea that the localization of DS is keeping Cave from porting other games is complete nonsense.MachineAres 1CC wrote: It has nothing to do with things being a "secret" I just hate to see a good developer like Cave waste their time on localizing and trying to release one of their games in the a market where they have no fighting chance to actually succeed by any decent level. Cave isn't localizing it, Aksys is.MachineAres 1CC wrote:It has nothing to do with things being a "secret" I just hate to see a good developer like Cave waste their time on localizing and trying to release one of their games in the a market where they have no fighting chance to actually succeed by any decent level. (and ketsui is already being taken care of by 5pb + mihara)

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
Yes, obviously Cave is not localizing it themselves, but there's plenty of business that needs to be conducted to sell a licensed product for localization and sale in another country and still protect your own interests. Making business deals doesnt just happen and especially doesn't happen overnight either. Talking to multiple different companies to settle a deal, having programmers communicate with each other and share source codes and information, trust me, it takes up their time.

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
Based on the time that Cave spent programming DFK I would say that they are quite efficient. I'm sure they have chiefs doing chief work, and indians doing indian work. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over DS.MachineAres 1CC wrote:Yes, obviously Cave is not localizing it themselves, but there's plenty of business that needs to be conducted to sell a licensed product for localization and sale in another country and still protect your own interests. Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
If you think any of Cave's useful programmers (you know, the ones that make the arcade games or port said games) have ever been, or ever will be, dragged out of their cubicles to help on the DS localization to such an extent that it made (or will make) them postpone or outright cancel plans to port games like MMP or DFK, then you've been smoking far too much crack.

They don't. I had to call support one time for a messup on an order at one of the festivals... the guy on the other end of the phone was clearly Japanese.and indians doing indian work

This wouldn't be nearly as funny if not for the fact that just about ANY support line these days seems to lead to India... which itself is not particularly funny...
Gamestop does not yet list Deathsmiles USA. They always seem to be the first to allow pre-orders for any big-budget FPS, and the last to allow pre-orders for something I want to play... bleh.
Geez, Amazon doesn't yet list it either...

I remember trying to preorder Space Invaders Extreme just to get paying out of the way. At the GameStop I was at (the huge one in San Jose/Santa Clara), it wasn't even in the database.yyr wrote:Gamestop does not yet list Deathsmiles USA. I checked back later, turns out they don't take preorders for games of that budget.

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
Yeah......I had this problem with Shikigami 3. It was never in our preorder system. I actually work with Gamestop, so I gave Customer Service a call, and when I complained, they told me they would ship quantities to my store when it came out. And they did. So talk to your people at your gamestop and they might be able to help out.

Re: Death Smiles coming to North America [Cave 2007]
this probably got asked a ton already but can anyone provide any insight re : the deathsmiles port being playable on PAL machines. does the publisher have a history of region-locking their games and have they said anything about a european release...

Yeah, if the employees are decent folks they can lend a hand - after being told that Metal Slug 7 wasn't in the system for pre-orders, the guy at the local store said he'd put aside a copy for me himself if any came in. Also, supposedly even if you can't reserve certain games in-store, check the company's website and you might be able to do so from there, and pick it up at whichever store you'd prefer.HeWhoGoverns wrote:So talk to your people at your gamestop and they might be able to help out.

Did just that... asked, him if there was anything he could do - he then preceded to emailed his district manager and customer service dept regarding a customer inquiry to preorder Deathsmiles. Least that what he said he was doing from behind the counter. Hope that helps a little in getting a sku on the books.HeWhoGoverns wrote:So talk to your people at your gamestop and they might be able to help out.
BTW: I did preorder Agarest LE from Gamestop last week.

Sorry for the double post but this one it is interesting. In this interview http://www.siliconera.com/2010/01/29/de ... rom-aksys/ we can see the future plans of Aksys about shooting games and their relationship with Cave. There is also a confirmation that Mega Black Label is on the disc and that there will be further DLC (probably MGB 1.1).
Cheers.

Sorry to ask this noob question here
May I know what's the secret of scoring in this game? My score is very low, can't even make it to the top 5 list despite making it to the last stage in MBL mode with 1 credit
