WTF is [insert game here] ?- PSOne Classics Thread
So I bought R-Type Delta yesterday from the PlayStation Store. Aside from making me want a couple of more games, browsing through the library made me take notice that it's somewhat lacking.
Then I saw how small both North America's and especially Europe's selections really were:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PSOne_Classics
Off the top of my head, here's what I'm hoping to see (outside of Japan) soon:
Ape Escape
Devil Dice
Einhänder
Fear Effect
Intelligent Qube
Mr. Driller
Silent Bomber
WipEout XL/2097
Vagrant Story is available in Europe right now, but not North America (WTF). I'm considering making an EU PSN account just to get it.
That aside, what does everyone else want?

The fact that Fear Effect is available in Japanese store only is pretty funny, considering that it's not a Japanese game
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!

+1 for Silent Bomber. One of my favorite PS1 games.
"I think Ikaruga is pretty tough. It is like a modern version of Galaga that some Japanese company made."
Re: Where's my Einhänder? - PSOne Classics Thread
I'm still waiting for Suikoden II (NA version). The first Suikoden game has been on PSN for a while now, however the second game is the "lol screw the collector's price" one.
Does anyone else get a ridiculously high amount of input lag when playing PSOne Classics games? I'm using a 60gig model. I grabbed the PSN download of R-Types but it isn't even playable, with almost 1/2 second worth of lag. When I play the disc-based R-Types on an old PS1 using the same connections on the same TV, I get no lag.

Could it be upconversion issues? Are you playing on an HDTV?
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
Re: Where's my Einhänder? - PSOne Classics Thread
This was using s-video on a standard definition TV. I keep one of those around for Beatmania and similar timing-intensive games.
It seems like I'm the only person who's getting lag playing PSOne games on PS3, so I wonder if it's something goofy in the settings or specific to the 60 gig.

Weird. It's also one of the best PS1 games ever made.EinhanderZwei wrote:The fact that Fear Effect is available in Japanese store only is pretty funny, considering that it's not a Japanese game

I have a 60GB machine and it lags terribly. Almost a whole second passes its that bad. If you plug the USB cable into the controller whilst playing it may help.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Sony Working 'Really Hard' on Digital Releases of PS1 and PS2 Games:

More PSOne Classics are being considered, at least.Peter Dille wrote:On the subject of downloadable PlayStation 2 games and more PSOne downloads, Dille was cagey, but optimistic. "We're working really hard on it," he said. "We're going through our own studio organization and trying to make sure all these old games are out there so that we can lead by example, but we're also communicating with all the third-parties about the success of the Final Fantasy games, and other PS1 and PS2 classics"
He added: "I think people can look for more of that because once the third-parties see how this works, it's just found money. There's not a whole lot of work that has to go into it and once we can get it up on the network, it finds an audience pretty quickly."

I own R-Types, R-Type Delta, and Castlevania Chronicles from the US store. That being said, just run an emulator if at all possible. No waiting for Sony to slowly release the games.

Who's been telling you otherwise? Some folks on another forum who don't know better?Jeneki wrote:It seems like I'm the only person who's getting lag playing PSOne games on PS3, so I wonder if it's something goofy in the settings or specific to the 60 gig.
Also, I wish I could combine two copies of Suikoden 1 to make a copy of 2. It might not make financial sense, but...well, actually, since I've not even tried out 1 I better hold that wish in check a while.

The list is chronic in the EU, with Vagrant Story being the only positive.
PS1 has one of the best JRPG catalogues available and I hope for the eventual release of some of the more difficult to find titles. I would love to finally get to play the Suikoden games on my PSP. I also wouldn't sniff at Alundra, Wild ARMs, FF9, Jade Cocoon, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Tales of... etc etc.

VS really aged badly imo. It's hard enjoying those old 3D graphics (3D ages way worse than 2D in this respect). I bought it and actually have deleted it already, good gameplay or not.Vincent Draconis wrote: Vagrant Story is available in Europe right now, but not North America (WTF). I want the vampire adventure "Vampir: Kyuuketsuki Densetsu" (and a translation would be nice too.. but I don't believe in Santa Claus either). Wait.. it is in the HK store, the name is "Vampire The Recurrence of The Vampire's Nightmare", in Japanese of course... hmmVincent Draconis wrote: Then I saw how small both North America's and especially Europe's selections really were:

That wiki list doesn't include the Hong Kong store, which has a selection of the same Japanese versions of PS1 games as the j-store, but actually allows registering and using foreign credit cards. There is at least Raiden, Shienryu, Cotton Original, Dezaemon, Philosoma, the R-Type games and even some PC-Engine games like Super Star Soldier.
Damn.. and I thought I was the only person getting the lag. I played R-Type Delta and R-Types and especially in R-Type I felt a noticeable lag. I thought it was because of my controller (PS2 HRAP, connected with a pelican PS2 > USB adapter that _should_ be lag-free, and feels lag-free when playing e.g. SFIV). Then I bought a guest stick (Hori FS3), and the lag didn't seem as bad, but I still felt it when compared to the arcade original, which I played after that. Now I don't know who or what to blame, the PS1 emulation, the controllers or my paranoia and lack of skill...neorichieb1971 wrote:I have a 60GB machine and it lags terribly. Another problem:
I just got a PSP, and noticed that I can copy the R-Type games to it easily from the PS3. I did that, but then a new problem arose: To play them on the PSP, I'd need to login as the owner of the games. I bought them from PS store Hong Kong with some bogus account, and I can't remember the password anymore! And the email address I used to register it has expired. What to do? I don't think the PSN staff will be very helpful if I tell them I registered a HK account from Europe... or will they? Have there been any precedents? I'd love to buy shooters, Castlevania games etc. and play them on both the PS3 and PSP.

Re: Where's my Einhänder? - PSOne Classics Thread
OK, I found a partial solution. On the PS3 XMB, Playstation Network --> Account Management --> System Activation --> PSP let's change the user by kind of automatically logging in to the PSP with the current user, so no passwords are needed! R-Type is finally running nicely on my PSPShocky wrote: I just got a PSP, and noticed that I can copy the R-Type games to it easily from the PS3. But one problem remains. What happens if I someday get logged out of my HK account in the PS3 for whatever reason? I can't login without either guessing the password or contacting some administration :/
