RQ: Psyviar 2... Someone please explain the system?

I saw this video of this dude playing Psyviar 2, and basically just going right into the bullets, but kind of doing it in a pattern.

I have the game, but haven't really played it much since I felt it was strange. Here is the video I am talking about:
