I'm going to be in the market for a Turbo Duo soon, and I have a couple questions.
1) How much should a stock system be going for? I see one on Ebay for $112, but the reserve hasn't been met yet.
2) Can you play JP games on a US system, and vice versa?
3) What's a good going price for Lords of Thunder? How about Dracular X: Rondo of Blood?

Re: Turbo Duo questions
Used Japanese Duos are usually around $150. I'm thinking a new US one should cost about that too.1) How much should a stock system be going for? I see one on Ebay for $112, but the reserve hasn't been met yet.
Depends:2) Can you play JP games on a US system, and vice versa?
Hu-Card: No. The pin slots in the US system have been switched around to lock out JP games, although there are hard-to-find adapters that fix that problem.
Super Hu-Card: No, they'll only work on a jp Super Grafx system.
CD-ROM², Super CD-ROM ²: Yes (I think only 2 or 3 will not work)
Arcade CD-ROM ²: No, since they require the Arcade RAM Card which was never released in the US, and jp Hu-Cards won't work for the above reasons. Again, an adapter can help.
If you're buying a Duo mainly for shmups and action games, I would strongly suggest buying a japanese system. More games to choose from, and no annoying compatibility issues.
Winds of Thunder, JP, about $35 (dunno the price on the US version, Lords of Thunder)3) What's a good going price for Lords of Thunder? How about Dracular X: Rondo of Blood?
Rondo of Blood, about $100-$120 depending on condition, spine card and luck.

1.)depends on what region console you're looking to buy. Japanese consoles tend to go for between $150 and $260...sometimes more.
There was a large stock of US consoles left over, and up untill mid 2003, you could still purchase them brand new from what remained of TTI (a mail order company known as TZD.com) for only $200 new.
Prices for US consoles have shot up a bit since then.
2.)There is no region protection for Disc based games. Any and all region CDs will play on any Duo...exceptions include the arcade card games.
For the Hu-Cards...you'll need an adaptor. Depending on what NEC console you get, you'll need a different adaptor, although there is a universal one that TZD is selling for $100
3.) Lords of Thunder is an odd one, TZD may still have new copies in stock...but I'm not sure. Usually $20 to $30.
Drac X Rondo is also odd...mostly because it goes for $100 to $150, but I managed to find 2 copies for $80 a pop. So it depends on your luck and your ebay know-how.
