Found a place that had the intermediate dictionary and it was expensive
. Not that I can't afford it but I just blew about $100 on books that haven't been finished yet (going through them.) Must resist the urge to get it.

"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

I didn't!Didn't know you imported.

Somewhat odd for a Japanese family to have English as their first language, granted, but hey

As i say, has it's plus/negative points, the big negative being that Japanese doesn't get used that much around the house.
Still, that said the in laws are both qualified english -and- Japanese teachers, so my lazy ass starts "home school" this week. Will check out the book recommendation! thanks.

It's nothing but brutal Japanese at my in-laws house. My wife says that I'm probably the first white person they've talked to that wasn't a mormon.Somewhat odd for a Japanese family to have English as their first language, granted, but hey

no, no. I mean, I just blew big bucks on a couple books that I haven't finished reading yet and I'm itching to buy more. Sorry for the fuck up.GaijinPunch wrote:Publisher sent you pre-releases?Not that I can't afford it but I just blew about $100 on books that haven't been finished yet

Re: Who's taking the JLPT this year!?
I had this funny idea after taking JLPT2 last year that I would do one old JLPT1 every month in 2010 to see how my score improves as I study more.
So I started with 1991. It felt easier than I had expected. I had both the mp3 for the listening comprehension part and an answer sheet. Unfortunately I didn't really have exact scoring instructions so I followed the scheme I found for the JLPT1 in 2000 on some chinese site.
So... 結果発表:296/400=72.9% 合格でーす!
With no studying at all...
Not sure if it's gotten more difficult later, 1991 was a long time ago. Also it seemed like you had so much more time for the reading part. I finished with 20 minutes left even though I didn't understand the first text at all on my first time through but had to go back and read it a second time. When I was doing JLPT2 I didn't even have time to read all sections

Re: Who's taking the JLPT this year!?
From what I've heard, it has skewed away from being a kanji-intensive test to being more about grammar, reading comprehension, and knowing the intricacies between different but similar kanji. In short, yes, it's gotten harder... at least that's the word on the street. I think the idea was to even the playing field between the whities & Chinese.
