Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
I doubt Espgaluda II is region-free, we should've heard something by now. I'm in HK next month so I will get J360 there, shouldn't be more than 200USD. After that it's SHMUP heaven in HD.

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Ok for those of you in the U.S who returned their Japanese 360 after it got the RROD what measures did you take to make sure that Microsoft repaired and returned your unit?
EDit: I'm sorry for some reason I didn't think this topic came up again after the the first post I'm very dumb.

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
I read the opening post and there's something I'm unsure about:
Can I convert an existing Xbox account from English to Japanese? I have an account on my American 360 that I don't use but whose GT I really like, and I'd rather convert it than try and think up something else I like.

It's not possible to change an account's region, but you can change your gamertag to something else, then proceed to make a Japanese account with that name instead.

Egh, Microsoft makes you pay a couple bucks for that right?
Forget it :\

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
You don't actually need to USE your Japanese gamertag for anything but downloads. You can play the games on your normal one.

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
great guide! I love shmups and finally got the guts to buy a japanese 360, but, please, can anyone help me clear this doubt, I already have a US 360, can I use the same xbl login without problem in the JPN 360 also? I intend to keep both, thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
As long as you buy it on the same 360 that you use your US account on, Yes.Special World wrote:Can I download on my Jap account and access the DLC with the US one?
Yes, but only one of those consoles can be connected to Live when using that account.Julimano wrote:can I use the same xbl login without problem in the JPN 360 also?

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Ordered a jp360 from playasia that arrived today. at work and have not opened it yet to see what model but should be the hdmi version with builtin memory. Being in the u.s. Do i need a different power cord/supply or anything different than what it comes with??
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
I purchased a brand new 3200 points card from Play-Asia. Everytime I try to enter it, I get a message saying "invalid code. please enter a valid code". I adding a real japanese address, setting my system's location to japan... no luck. I even tried logging into the xbox live account management website and redeeming it there. No luck.
I called up M$'s xbox hotline only to be told they don't offer any service/advise on japanese systems (only USA and Canada). The most information the agent could tell me was my points card was indeed active.
Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong here?
Thanks

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Kind of a dumb question, but are you actually using a Japanese gamertag? If you are, some photographs or copypasta of the actual error message you get would be helpful.
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
And remember to black-out the actual card code or someone here will nick it.
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Yes, I am using a Japanese gamertag. When I log in to xbox live's website, everything turns Japanese, so I'm confident its the correct region gamertag. I created it on the NTSC-J Xbox, got the 1month gold trial. 1month gold has expired leaving my account "silver".
This is the exact error screen I am receiving:

I'm certain the Jap points card is:
*Not a fake, came from play-asia in factory packaging
*Card hasn't been used, I pulled the strip
*Card is active, Microsoft rep confirmed this.
Do I need to setup a VPN to mask where my location is so M$ thinks I'm in japan?

No. It's only GoD titles and some DLC that are IP-locked.billd420 wrote:Do I need to setup a VPN to mask where my location is so M$ thinks I'm in japan?
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
I've never seen 3200 point denominated cards. Since you said you purchased from Play-Asia, are you certain that you bought Japan-region points and not Asia-region points?billd420 wrote:I'm certain the Jap points card is:

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
billd420, i had the same problem. you are inputting the code in the wrong place. what are you trying to download? as i solved my problem by accessing the 'downloads' link from the game icon, and following the instructions after selecting the DLC I wanted to download (i think?). you need to "redeem the code" AFAIK.
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
You can just use the Redeem Code option in the first tab in the Guide screen when redeeming points cards.
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
ARGH F*&% ME!
I just doubled checked my Play-Asia invoice:
Xbox Live Points (3200 points)
Compatible with Xbox360 Asia
Awesome, $50 down the drain. Sigh.
Anyone want some Asian xbla points for mega cheap?

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
billd420 - PM me, I'll buy those Asian points off you.
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Asian points are now sold, fresh JAPANESE points have been purchased off of ebay. I'll post the outcome here, although I'm almost certain it'll work this time around *crosses fingers*

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Have you considered NCS for your points? They do digital delivery same-day if before 5pm eastern.
Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
Yep, NCS is usually your best bet for JPN points emailed straight to you. Some of them on ebay are a bit pricey, and not everyone will email you the code.
Does anyone know anywhere that sells Asian points and will email you the code? Yes-Asia and Play-Asia are the only places I can find them for sale, but they do not email the code.

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
It's a bit confusing for me, those region related point cards and region related 360's, but I think that I got it. But just to besure: I have an (220V) Asian 360 and a Japanese account. If I want to buy points, they have to be Japanese points don't they?

Re: Guide to owning a Japanese 360
The points cards are region-specific to gamertag regions, regardless of what model 360 console you have.
