First time I've seen Tate in a store, nice. So how do the people who walk into the store feel about it? Get any weird looks from customers for having a TV on its side?
Yah, sure do. People are kinda funny that way... You get a few who have no idea why, but you also get a few who understand EXACTLY why!

We ended up swapping a GC in there and a copy of Ikaruga, so now it's getting a little more attention. =)

Hey guys its been a while and I thought I would update with my current setup. Here is the old setup I posted here in 2008:

Image

Back then, I only had composite cabling/inputs to deal with. Over time I obtained some new hardware and moved into a new place and here is the current state of affairs:

Sorry for the last image not being rotated. I'm having a heck of a time with only an iphone for photos and internet.

Monitor is a NEC MultiSync 77F and I am able to pipe all my consoles through it. I run all my low res stuff into the XRGB2+, one of my 360s thru the VGA pass through. I also have a Treamcast VGA box for DC stuff, and a Vdigi VD-Z3 component to VGA transcoder for 480p Wii games. I also run the Wii component into the XRGB for VC stuff since it is mostly 240p. I also use the Sigma Raijin exclusively for shmupping. I have padhacked 360, Saturn, DC, and PS1/PS2 controller PCBs to jamma edge connectors so I simply plug said controller into the Sigma's jamma harness and voila!

Audio is handled via Kenwood receiver, speakers, and powered sub woofer. It bumps and you really feel the tension build hearing DOJ's soundtrack during a good run.

Hey thamasha69, nice joystick setup man! I'm trying to find a way to use my SFC and PC Engine with either a 360 or PS2 Hori joysticks. Does anyone know a way to do this? Both the SFC and PC Engine had terrible joysticks.

PS2 to SFC and PS2 to PCE are easily available and work great:

I love this thread. Makes me want to set up something more permenent. My tatetv gets dragged out of the closet as needed, then put back. I'm so happy to see I'm not the only one with too many consoles

You can never have too many consoles.

Thanks Fudoh! Sorry for the off topic but does anyone know if these converters add any lag?

I got a wall mount for my HDTV that allows it to rotate: http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/ ... fault.aspx

But, the TV isn't weighted evenly, so I used some PVC pipe to keep it stable.

my ghetto setup.

notice the spoon in the top right corner - it's absolutely essential.

edit:

the picture with the flash doesn't really give back the colours of the screen

Image

there are actually quite visible scanlines while playing as the screen is a pal tv
and the image is stretched manually with a pot in the tube (as you can read in my thread).

i tried the 240p patch but it makes the scanlines thick about 1mm so it's quite bad in that setup.

i mostly play mushihime because it's the only game that stays dead center on the screen.
i tried strikers 1945 and dodonpachi in the ps1 and ibrara on the ps2 but the screen is shited
to the left and i have a black border on the right. it's better when i connect it over a s-video
cable but the loss in quality is just too big.

Thanks man, I can't imagine playing shmups with any of the joysticks released for either the PC Engine, nor the Super Famicom. I guess the Joypad converter is the way to go!

Wow, I thought I was the only one who actually uses a stock Mayflash. God what a crap stick, somehow I've managed a few good runs with it. Sadly, it is still better than several of my other sticks

Seeing the corner of that Cab in Ken's photo just makes me wonder what the rest of the room looks like, I'm sure it's hardcore.

Fcuk it, just 'cause there's not much else goin' down here in the Jesus cave, here's some low-res lovin' back in the house ... kitchen ghetto shooter setup for the weekend. Fridge full of Asahi, Dr. Greenthumb just out of shot to the left. Divorce imminent...
