Downpresser - Age of Ignorance
Great hardcore from California. Way better then Creatures and Violation, Downpresser deserves to be the famous one.

Hits the spot. This is exactly the kind of black metal I can get behind.

Funny, didn't listen to that one very long ago. Mostly listening to jazz these days, but listened to Granulosum's The final stand the other day and it was doing pretty much what I wanted a black metal album to do.

The Japandroids are pretty rad. Anything from Fireworks is great too. If you like pop-punk, check them out. They're from my area.

Very sad news today for punk fans as Jay Reatard was apparently found dead in his home:

I really tried to listen to Oren Ambarchi, and I love his work on Sunn O)))'s Monoliths & Dimensions, but I just cannot listen to him seriously. I think it's TOO minimalistic for me.

Yeah, there's very little movement to a lot of his stuff, but I dig his tones and approach to guitar. I'm kind of a drone nut, so less movement isn't a big deal. It's weird, though -- I can't make myself like Sunn O))) even though they're right up my alley.

Check out what he did on Melatonin for something less sparse:

Also, headphones and/or a good set of speakers for best results. I generally hate it when people have to include that disclaimer about any kind of music, but it's really a must for this stuff.

As of right now I am listening to,

The Pillows discography. (Torrents are a godsend.)
Heard a few Team Sleep songs last night.
Game OSTs. Primarily Cave shit.
I listened to a couple Blur songs yesterday.

That's all. I'm getting tired of music in general.

Yeah, it is quite good. It says something when the worst thing I have to say about an album is that I like a previously recorded version of one song more than the LP version.

Again, amazing albums. Props to your taste in music, sir.

Anyway:
Narrows - New Distances (Ex-Members of Botch, sounds like a more refined Botch, mathy hardcore)
Integrity - Systems Overload (Anti-Christian hardcore)
Litany for the Whale - Dolores (Dark-hardcore, for fans of Cursed, Tragedy, Rise and Fall, etc)
and Cursed - Three: Architects of Troubled Sleep (One of the best (dark) hardcore bands of the decade.)

EDIT: Just went back and listened to all of Desolo again. Holy shit, I forgot how insanely heavy this album is.

Biohazard - Urban Discipline
Just listened to it to remember how bloody good it is.

Vader - Blood
Just an EP, but awesome as almost all of Vader´s releases. My favourite Death Metal band by far (which doens´t mean I don´t love Death Metal).
