OTOMEDIUS G platinum hits, another chance at region free?

Post by schnoo »

I am trying to figure out who/where at Konami I can ask to make this new release region free.

doesn't platinum hits imply a game sold a lot of units?

Nifty, I didn't know Otomedius was going into Platinum Hits. Not my favorite game but always good news for those who want it.

While platinum hits has a different cover art, I don't think they remaster the disc. Changing the region settings would require this.

I have no idea if "Platinum hits" really means anything saleswise. It could be just a repackaging at a lower price. Did Homera sell tons on PS2 to get its Best Hits release?

Yes, it does imply it sold a lot of units, but it definitely isn't grounds to randomly make it region-free. Idolmaster also sold a lot of units, both 360 games have been platinum hits-ed, yet they're still NTSC-J only.

I'm going to try really hard not to think about what kind of games sell well in Japan, with games like Oneechanbara Vortex in Platinum Hits.

Can we stop with the constant "will it be region free" questions? Don't we now have a thread to kick this stuff to so it doesn't clutter the entire board? Almost makes me wish Futari was JPN only so it didn't spur these kinds of questions...

Idolm@ster is region-locked on the grounds of game content: underage girls. Nightmare to bring this to US and FOX News is always looking for good material.

Platinum doesn't mean a game is suddenly going to be region free. I don't know how people can possibly think this.

Thread should be merged with this thread, honestly.

The games don't have any 18+ material in them, they're perfectly legitimate uh, "idol-raising simulators." A localization of it would be beyond frightening though, especially if they changed the songs. Way too much translating/VA'ing to do for the very few sales it'd get in the west anyways.

Otomedius is more sexually explicit than im@s, but it might actually do OK here since Gradius is somewhat known, just adding tits to the equation.

Historically, NO "greatest hits/best/platinum hits/etc" re-release--which is just the same game in different packaging--has EVER changed the region code, on any system, for any game. At least, I'm 99% certain of this.

There's a lot of writing on this page, but a simple "no" probably would have been adequate...
