Region locking is not prevalent on PS3 because Sony designed it to be region-free for games. Publishers have no choice. All PS3 games are region-free, whether the front office likes it or not.

Because there's no games for PS3?

I don't think i like where this is going.
If it's getting region free and fails sales-wise (and i am kinda sure that will happen) this might disencourage (does that word even exist?) CAVE to RF further titles.
Not like i care, as i have finally a hacked 360 that allows me to play all region's games

Yeah, as "discourage" :P "en" and "dis" are english formatives (I believe that's the technical term)

Yeah, so, um... can I have one...

For some reason I'm not as up for this one as Futari. I really like the original (am I the only one who thinks the music is pants) but maybe it's because it looks similar to Futari. I know the gameplay and scoring are different... but two verts within a few months. I'll still be in "Futari" mode when it arrives.

Actually no, shut up, I'm not complaining at all - gonna place that pre-order now.

Incorrect. Both the PS3 and Xbox360 have the same software capabilities to restrict something by region, and neither make it mandatory.

From a technical standpoint, there is no reason why it happens so frequently on the Xbox360 and so infrequently on the PS3.

My personal theory is that Sony are experimenting at finding ways to permanently beat modchippers. In countries like France, Germany and Australia, modchips are legal by law (to make, sell and use) as they defeat region protection. (There are several brick-and-mortar stores near me that advertise modchip installs quite blatantly, and have been in business for several generations of console now).

By taking this legal technicality away, Sony have far more power to stomp on modchip manufacturers.

yes, in this case those two are mutually exclusive.

though, when a particular "en" or "dis" isn't quite being used as a prefix (such as "engage" and "discover") it would generally not be replaced. that's an exception and not a norm, though.

(nope)

I don't even care what happens with this anymore. If DS gets localized, I'll be obligated to buy it, but there's basically no way in shit this game is getting localized. I've been wrong before, but I don't think this is one of those times. I want DFK or something. (Deep in my heart I know EXY is the only girl for me, but I keep searching aimlessly for evanescent answers.)

2010 should be the year of CAVE on 360!
and i think 2010 is also looking good for ways to handle JPNonly games.

but it would be nice to know if CAVE is going to show love to its worldwide fans.

I know we're getting way off topic here, but the two prefixes are not in fact mutually exclusive; see the words "disentangle," and "disengendered." Perhaps you could say that when you exit Kakusei mode, you are disengendered

Yeah, there has to be something more to this. As far as I can tell, there are exactly ZERO released games on PS3 to date that aren't region-free. I therefore assumed that there was just no region coding for games at all.

Japan and America are in the same region for Blue ray discs thats why you never notice. Every game you have probably is region locked.

that's true for movie BDs, but PS3 game are region free after all. Over here in Europe we've got Code B Blu-Ray players (PS3 as well) and all american or asian games just run fine nevertheless.

you quoted the exact part that I explained this with. "disengage" is an aforementioned example.

I'm about to split this thread like the seams of an obese man's jeans. Blathering about region free-ness goes in this thread. If there's any specific news about the XBox360 release of ESPGaluda II Black Label, it'll get posted.
