PS2 shmups, American only

Post by GrimoreLibrarian »

I own a few PS2 Shooters, Radien 3, Gradius 5, Mobile Light Force 2, and R-type final. I am curious, there's a lot of hidden gems on the PS2 so I'm curious if there's any thing I should keep an eye out for. Though I can't seem to find much info on PS2 ones that I can get here in my own country. I love this genre in all, but I don't want to pay hundreds to play only a small handful of games.

So are there any other PS2 shooters or do I pretty much already own the lot of them?

To clear up confusion for you, Mobile Light Force 2 is actually Castle Shikigami 1. If you liked that, you'll like the second one a whole lot. The third one is also available in the US on Wii, or you can do like me and get it for PC which works for everyone.

Not sure about these so maybe someone can confirm as I'm in the UK.

Tengai and Samurai Aces aren't too bad and there is Gunbird and Strikers 1945.

Unfortunately, none of the Psikyo or Skonec games released for PAL PS2 got North American releases.

Taito Legends 2 and, to a lesser extent, Taito Legends. Hardly excellent ports, but great value for you buck nonetheless.

It's much more accurate to say that you will pay a small "handful" to play hundreds of games.
