Lucky guy, would have to assume your gf's mom thinks highly of you to get a spanking brand new PS3 for you. It is also a high-spec Blu-Ray player as well. Most of Sony's dedicated stand-alone Blu-Ray players don't have some of the more robust functionality that the PS3's built-in BR player has such as:

*Slow motion playback

*Scan playback option

*Frame-by-frame playback option (perfect for frame-by-frame analysis in both forward & reverse playback sessions)...SCEI should've included a jog shuttle wheel on the PS3 BR remote for better frame-by-frame versatility.

*Variable speed playback (up to 4x faster than normal playing speed and up to 2x speed in reverse playback mode) with the PS3 Six-Axis or Dual Shock 3 controller's right analog stick -- even if 2x playing speed above normal playback speed is implemented, you can still hear audio as well.

Of course, it's recommended to pick up an optional PS3 Blu-Ray remote to take advantage of the extra functionality features listed above...is only $19.99 USD nowdays. The Blu-Ray movies sure look gorgeous & razor sharp on a 1080p HDTV setup with a PS3.

Haha, yes she does think highly of me. My girlfriend is also more like my fiancee( did I spell that right?)

I never really get anything nice so she wanted to make this x-mas special for me.
So far I'm really impressed with the ps3.. I got soo lucky too, it was the last one at the store and I ended up getting the 250 gig version, all I can say is I'm a very happy man. I hope everyone else can be as lucky as me.

I got a Japanese SMS with controllers, an AV cable, and a bunch of loose games (Hokuto no Ken, Opa Opa, Enduro Racer, Phantasy Star, Outrun, Ashura, Final Bubble Bobble, Hang On (card), and The Circuit for Mark III/SMS and Zaxxon, Sindbad Mystery, Star Jacker, Orguss, Monaco GP, Champion Golf, Star Force, Exerion, and Safari Hunting for SG-1000), Pac-Man Collection for Colecovision (homebrew), Jr. Pac-Man for Atari 7800 (homebrew), Thrust+ Platinum for Atari 2600 (homebrew), Spy Hunter for Colecovision, a super action controller for Colecovision, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Wonder Boy in Monster Land for SMS (US), Night Court season 2 (DVD), a Hori case for my DS games, some popcorn, popcorn seasoning, some hot sauces, a gift certificate for Gamestop (so now I have to go there. I have done most my shopping elsewhere lately) and some Apricot Ale.

I didn't get the Tototek adapter to play US games on a JP SMS yet, though. I should be getting it soon, but my dad forgot to bring it up.

I was a bit surprised at the weight of the JP SMS. I expected it to be heavier with all the extra stuff it has, but it's actually a bit lighter than the US system. I was surprised to see that the power adapter that came with it is a Hori brand that looks just like one of the SEGA models (different voltage, so I'm not going to chance using the JP adapter with the US system or vice versa).

Lottery ticket and cashew nuts.

Our family just doesn't bother any more. The only reason why I got that stuff was because of the obligation people feel to unnecessarily give people trivial garbage yearly. And I would have gotten the cashew nuts regardless.

I did give my mother Maru's book. Then she asked me if I was only giving it to her because I didn't have anything to give her for Christmas (despite the fact that I send her videos of Maru all the time).

Fucking hell.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

R-Type PCE gifted to me on the VC
Rockman Battle and Chase, Rockboard FC, and Pop N Pop PSX from a friend
In the Hunt PSX, Track and Field II still in box, and Bionic Commando NES off ebay from my gal
She also got me an LSU jacket, and a 1 terabyte external hard drive.

The gifts were great, but having to work again on a Christmas totally kills it for me.

3 shirts from my family. I hate getting clothes on Christmas because that's when people should give you special stuff (I got them useful stuff, like Blu-Ray players and a Wii.). A coworker got me a pressure cooker, which I really, really needed.

However, I got myself a working PS3, a 5.1 speaker mini-home theater system and a micro computer case.
