It's amazing isn't it? I'm still investing in cables for my PVM, but what I've got running through it so far looks superb. Time to get my Amiga going through it...Arasoi wrote:

If cats always fall on their feet, and a slice of bread with butter always falls on the buttered side, what happens if you tie a buttered bread to the back of a cat?

The most awesomest thing I've bought in some time: I just got a Persian kitty last Friday! Once I get my act together I'll post a picture of her awesomeness.

QFT. I find myself in a rage each time I even see a pile of dog crap, especially when left on a friggin' SIDEWALK. Pick that shit up! I even hang around dog owners when the animal looks like it's about to go #2 to make sure nothings left afterwards. People who don't pick up should not have dogs, period.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:At least cats and their owners don't leave shit all over the sidewalks.

Since we're on the subject of cats, here's a book which I bought my mother for Christmas:

It's Maru's book, a full color bilingual book that even comes with a dvd! It's great, I think she'll really enjoy it.

Set of Hallmark Christmas ornaments dealing with both classic arcade cabinets and pinball machines:
1996 - Pinball Wonder ornament: Santa Claus playing a fictional "Snowball Blaster" pinball table. Pull back on the plunger to see the bumper targets light up & hear digitized sound effects of a 1970s electro-mechanical pinball table in action. Backglass marquee is consantly lit all the time until powered down for the night. A minature silver ball actually rolls on the playfield for realism and completeness.
2005 - Pinball Action Looney Tunes ornament: Bugs Bunny is playing a fictional "The Tazmania Devil Game" pinball table with Daffy Duck's head smashed through the glass playing field looking all dazed and confused. Tweety Bird looks on as ol' Bugs strives to become a pinball wiz. Can he do it? Pull back on the plunger to see bumper targets light up & hear cool digitized sound effects of a real pinball table in action. Is personally signed and dated by ex-Hallmark ornament creator, Lane Feuer 11-05-05. Even the "Tilt" signage is lit up during sound playback along with the backglass marquee as well. Again, a minature silver ball actual rolls on the playfield for both realism and completeness.
2008 - Pac-Man cab ornament: Press either Player 1 or Player 2 Start button to see it light up both the marquee and monitor screen whilst the Pac-Man theme is playing + actual sound effects taken from said arcade game of the same name. Side artwork is typical modern day Pac-Man fare and not represenative of the original Bally Midway produced Pac-Man cabinet artwork though.
2009 - Galaga cab ornament: Press the fire button to see it light up both marquee and monitor screen whilst the Galaga theme is playing + actual sound effects taken from said arcade game of the same name. Side artwork is spot on just like on a real Galaga upright cab...cool for Hallmark getting it replicated right this time around. Only minor gripe is that both Player 1 & 2 Start buttons are missing...no biggie though. ^_~
Is presented in high-res format to show off all the intricate detailing and craftmanship...

It'll be interesting to see what new minature arcade cabinet ornament Hallmark produces for the 2010 X-Mas ornament line-up. Will it be another Namco one or some other arcade manufacturer entirely? Classic arcade game manufacturers like Atari Games or Williams Electronics would be great indeed. ^_~

I have been SLAMMED for the past while, but I did pick up this Diner on Monday. Local Craigslist deal, paid $1,175. Really enjoy it so far. I played my Rollergames after playing this and was left thinking man, this isn't very much fun although Rollergames plays fast as shit. My Whirlwind has been mysteriously broken for the past 5 years, but I think I have an idea of what might be wrong. Everything works except the flippers, so I'm thinking it is the flipper power board.

Very nice Diner pinball you've scored there, caldwert. I recall trying it out at the 2009 California Extreme show...brought back some cool memories of playing it back in the mid-1990s at a local arcade hangout.
Yeah, it's fun to play the Whirlwind pinball table with the built-in fan spinning during a very heated session.
Another fun pin game is The Twilight Zone one when you play in PowerBall mode...much lighter than a traditional silver ball though and makes it a stronger canidate of "going down the drain" that much faster indeed.
I've noticed the place to be to try out the latest pinball games is at a local bowling alley of all places. My local arcades just suck big-time since they are corporately owned and not of the indy arcade hangout variety. Go figure.

Wow...I never noticed how similar the playfields for "Diner" and "Taxi" are. I know they're both Ritchie games, but wow.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I had never realized it until I bought it either. It also borrows a few sounds from Diner. Most people consider it a pseudo-sequel to Taxi which I never thought of. I'm not much of a Taxi fan though I love this. The cup shot is awesome. I maxed it out yesterday, only goes to 3.5m.

New amp and cab

Texan hand built Frenzel 5e3 head with 40watt upgrade and steel cage

Ontarian hand built Saxon cabs 12" open back cab with eminence cannabis rex speaker
Proud to own some hand made gear by some great guys.
I'm quite a fan of point to point wiring in amps, and Jim Frenzel offers what are probably the best deals around.

As for Whirlwind - you've checked the fuses, the high voltage lockout switch behind the front door, and the switch test right?

I'm thinking my problem on the Whirlwind is either in one of the PIA logic chips on the MPU board or it is the power supply board. I really need to pull out all the fuses and test them. I've tested them in the board, but I've heard that some will test good even when they're not. It has been down for over 5 years now, so it is not really bothering me too much obviously but I'd like to get it fully up and running once and for all.bloodflowers wrote:Nice Diner, I used to have one - it's got lovely flow.caldwert wrote:I have been SLAMMED for the past while, but I did pick up this Diner on Monday.
