What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
Well, since Thunder Force VI slapped us a "To Be Continued" in our faces, what we could expect for TF 7?
My predictions:
- PS3 release
- More focused on the Galaxy Federation instead of the Team 222
- A soundtrack better than the letdown of TF VI.
Say whay you could expect for TF 7 ^^

That it'll have plenty of time to swap stories with Axelay 2.

that it gets cancelled after quality assurance if it's as bad as VI.Sturmvogel Prime wrote: Say whay you could expect for TF 7 ^^

That it doesn't come out so the TF series can die in dignity and live on as a legend. Plus, you figure Sega wasn't happy with the results of their new experiment...

Re: What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
In addition to bad reviews, the game sold poorly, being discounted significantly within a few months. I'd be shocked to see another.

I take offense to the "letdown" bit. It might not be Thunder Force, but it wasn't bad, either.
Though I don't know why they didn't at least get Tsukumo for TFVI. I seriously doubt he would have refused, would he?

See Broken Thunder. His involvement in that "game" likely killed his chances of working on the next actual installment.lgb wrote:I take offense to the "letdown" bit. It might not be Thunder Force, but it wasn't bad, either.

TF6 wasn't a huge success so TF7 may never come to be, if anything I'd be interested to see Okano's next game in the PROJECT S.T.G. before a new Thunder Force.

This.
After TF VI, I'm far more interested in something from outside TF's universe. New IP please Project S.T.G!
Re: What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
I highly doubt it would be on PS3...PSP seems pretty likely though. Would be a much small investment and there's already a shooter base on the system.
That is if it comes out while the system is still relevant, which is probably unlikely.

Thunderforce 6 was sweet in every detail except it was too easy.

Bring back Tsukumo or Yaminishi and bring the god damn game over to the US in a double pack with TFVI.

I like TF6...... I like it even more for making TF5 not hated on.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
I actually like the soundtrack for TF 6. Keep Tamayo (Everblue stage 3-A is an awesome track), but have Tsukumo join in as well. Sure he was involved with Broken Thunder, but I think it's worth forgiving him.
A PS3 release wouldn't be a surprise. Let's hope TF 7 isn't 10 years away though. Also, it needs to be TOUGHER than TF 6. Try a difficulty level on par with that of TF4. We need a TF7 that will kick your ass on Maniac the way TF4 does.
Once again, I missed the multi-screen-high levels like the ones TF4 offered. TF4's Bio-base offers multiple paths.
Some of TF5&6's boss battles are over too soon, but giving the bosses some extra forms would address that.

Kinect? KIN NOT.
Re: What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
I agree that PSP is the most likely choice if TF VII does actually come to pass. It's quite possible that Sega will be paying close attention to Darius Burst's performance on the system as a gauge of demand for an original PSP game in the genre from a known series.originalz wrote:I highly doubt it would be on PS3...PSP seems pretty likely though. Re: What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
Sega is not doing great financially, it seems doubtful to me that they'd sign off on a completely new PSP-developed sequel at this point, just to target a modest JP PSP STG audience - given their reluctance so far to even fund any non-JP regional PS2 publishing of VI.neojma wrote:I agree that PSP is the most likely choice if TF VII does actually come to pass. If Darius Burst on PSP somehow manages to do really well financially (I doubt it), then a tweaked/rebalanced port of VI to PSP (and I'd really like this see this happen) seems much more likely and financially sensible than a new PSP-developed VII.
We might not even get a part VII from Sega ever; at this point if Sega don't announce a port of VI to some platform in the next year or two (or sublicense the international publishing rights for the PS2 game to another company, like Ignition Entertainment), then it wouldn't surprise me if they just decide to let their whole TF license expire and return to Twenty-One Company. Then eventually you might see a part VII from a different interested licensee on a random platform several years down the line.
Alternatively there may still be a chance that Tetsu Okano could have enough internal management influence at Sega to get a small pool of funding for another PS2 TF project before their license with Twenty-One Company expires, since PS2 development remains inexpensive and only requires a small team, but I got the feeling from his interviews that he'd be interested in other STG revival projects first before another TF sequel.

To never happen!!!
I'm already very disappointed with Thunderfoce VI so let the franchise die already so we can all remember it as a great franchise instead of one of those other franchises like Final Fantasy.

They should just do what Capcom's doing with Mega Man and make it a Megadrive throwback.

They turn it into a 2-d fighting game and start a whole new series.
Re: What do you expect for Thunder Force VII?
Free Range gets more powerful, game gets easier, bosses die faster.
has anyone else noticed that the thunderforce games have gotten easier since 3 and 4?
