2004, Chicago. I'm from the Caribbean, so it's only the rare Christmas abroad that I've seen snow. Despite living in England for the last four years, I'm on the NW coast, so there's never much here either. Last January when places twenty minutes down the motorway were snowed under, we were getting microscopic flakes of the stuff.
Up here in the Seattle area we had one last year (for the first time in nearly 20 years, if I recall correctly) and it was a big mess. The usual family Christmas Eve get-together at my parents' house had to be cancelled due to their street being almost completely impassable for the better part of two weeks, Seattle's handling of the storn was so thoroughly inept that it contributed to the mayor getting voted out of office in the primary election, and the whole thing just caused all sorts of trouble.
Hadn't had one for a couple years, since December had been a bit warmer than usual. With the 12" of snow on the ground, however, it looks like there will be this year
Had a partial one last year (snow from a week before was still hanging around for the most part, though I could see the muddy yard in spots). We might have one this year if an upcoming storm does what they're forecasting right now.
Montreal rarely has non-white Christmas. 2006 was the most recent exception. The 2006-2007 winter was unusual here as the first snow was on January 15, 2007.
There is currently snow on the ground (a lot) and it's very cold.
