Re: Xbox 360: Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (new thread)
Game finally arrived
Bunking off work to play it. Interestingly, I'm enjoying original a lot more this time round. Tried out Novice Ultra and 1cc'd it first time round, almost 1 lifed it. Very easy, anyways. Apart from Deathsmiles 2 and Ibara Black Label, this is the only Cave shooter I've never played before, so it's a novel experience indeed. There's not as pronounced a difference between Xbox360 mode and Arcade mode as there was on Deathsmiles. 360 mode is a lot nicer looking though, just not dramatically so.

Basically; what a fantastic game. I honestly wouldn't know it wasn't perfect version if it wasn't documented... no stutter...yet ...
And anyone that has a 'background' in design/programming... please don't even try to presume you know how this game is constructed. Please don't belittle the work that goes into such games - even at the level of 'porting'. You really imagine you simply turn a slider here and there, or add a integer to no. of enemies property? ... good god... [ps. 'complicated' games often simply require more people - often with more narrow areas of responsibility]
I think it is legitimate to say; perhaps this should have been on the disk, or it should be less points, or even that Black label is maybe uncomfortably close to paying for a patch.
However, in this context I would suggest its not like paying for upgrading v1 to v1.5 ... and in that manner the idea of paying for a 'refinement' rather than an 'expansion' is clearly in the realms of fan choice; especially since the BL is not a timed dlc or something poo.
I liken it to a kind of tip, there's a bit of pressure to give it, you don't have to... but of course you probably will. One thing to mention is I've easily paid more than $15 for a tip before, and never really gotten anything back for it

Damn you live in the UK and have played every CAVE game besides the two above? Pretty impressive. Re: Xbox 360: Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (new thread)
When I go to London, I make a point of going to the amazing Casino arcade, which has had Pink Sweets, Muchi-Muchi Pork!, Deathsmiles Mega Black Label, Ketsui, Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu and ESPGaluda 2 since I've started going, along with ones I'd already played on MAME. I went to an awesome arcade festival earlier on this year where I got to try Mushihimetama, DOJ Black Label and DonDonpachi 2: Beestorm. It's not like I have them on my doorstep, like you Japan dwelling types, but it's nice to have tried themadversity1 wrote:Damn you live in the UK and have played every CAVE game besides the two above? On topic, I'm really starting to get in to original. I enjoy switching shot types and point blanking everything. To me it seems a lot easier than Mushihimesama original, but that might be because I can't quite get to stage 5 on one credit yet: the last stage is crazy fast. I'm finding maniac particularly frustrating; I need to stop thinking about score. I keep on blundering into a single bullet or tiny enemy on stage 2, which is rage inducing. Novice is just a tad too easy to be fun for me at the moment, but I'm sure that when I'm ready to play it for score, it'll grow on me.
Oh, and I got a DLC card with my PlayAsia order, which is pretty jammy, but since I preordered it on day one, I kind of feel I deserve it

But thats mostly thanks to Robert Garcia and Runefaust, which both have quite a large collection.
Edit: well and DDP Campaign Version plus these weird Blue Label versions

Re: Xbox 360: Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (new thread)
Lifted from EOJ's post on cave-stg today, Mihara has been commenting on the slowdown issues featured in the Futari port, paticularly BL:
That high score table needs splitting, like yesterday.EOJ wrote:He (Mihara) says "I can only say that fundamentally the slowdown is totally different. [BL slowdown in the port is very inaccurate compared to the PCB] not only in the boss fights but in the stages as well". He also comments on the strange number of (Japanese) people interested in BL slowdown accuracy, while almost none of them are asking or talking about ver 1.5 slowdown accuracy. He doesn't know why people are only interested in BL when it comes to these matters!

Fucking third stage. What's with the rank?! On practice everything seems easy and then in game, going for a high score and: FUCK ME WHERE DID ALL THOSE BULLETS COME FROM?
Brilliant game. I hate it.

Re: Xbox 360: Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (new thread)
Well today was a day of firsts for me. I 1cc'd black label original with reco (270 mil score, 0 lives, 0 bombs left). I encountered my first graphical glitch--stage 1 boss' legs disappeared. And I encountered the dreaded stutter--really not so bad.
I'm still hyped over that 1cc though. I was bombing on larsa something fierce and ran out of bombs midway through her last lifebar section. I was panic dodging my ass off for a good 20 seconds.

Re: Xbox 360: Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (new thread)
Finally came in today! God, it's so pretty.
1CC'd arrange novice on the first run -- popped my Cave 1CC cherry, but it was incredibly easy. Immediately hopped over to Ultra mode and, well....wow. Just incredible. And so many screen modes/options! I'm glad I've had the opportunity to support Cave's experiment.
Got the DLC card, too. It's been a good day.
My gamertag is f1fthlogic if anyone wants to add me.

When I play in Training, I always crank the survival rank up to max, that way I'm prepared for when I do get a good run going and the rank goes crazy.Tigershark wrote:Fucking third stage. You can also set the overall counter at what you normally are at when you get to that stage, that usually makes the rank appropriate to how it would normally be in a full run. Or for even better practice, crank it up higher than what you usually get

It's probably not the same thing, but I encounted a stutter in 1.5 Ultra. It appeared to only happen when there were tons of bullets on the screen, with many crowded around the character. Also, bombing in this situation made the pause consistent.

Ohhhhhh...I get it now. It took me a while, but I finally realized the holdover of the "Slow Tap A" (in Maniac mode) technique from Mushi 1. Well now, at least it's streamlined...

Re: Xbox 360: Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (new thread)
I finally got it. Have played probably around 15 credits. It's pretty fun, and picking up Original mode's scoring system was a piece of cake. Getting the 2nd extend feels pretty good, even though I've only gotten it twice or so. It looks great on standard def tv! I'll play 1.5 some more untill I purchase Black Label I think.
Though, I'm having trouble working the XConverter360. To get it to register, I have to plug and unplug it into my 360 untill it the XConverter activates and it works. It's getting kind of annoying, as if I'm swapping discs for Mushi PS2. *shrug*
Getting to use my all sanwa HRAP to play Futari is as amazing as expected. Finally playing the game has made me realize I've improved with controlling the joystick over the past year or so.

I know this is 2 player locally, but I can't remember whether or not (for some reason I'm guessing not) you could play multiplayer across live?

I think that's normal. What I do is: I power on the 360 with a wired controller plugged into the console, until the wired controller lights up fully, and then unplug it, and plug it into the XConverter360 after that. (Joystick staying plugged into the XConverter360 all the time.)Aquas wrote:Though, I'm having trouble working the XConverter360. What? Just start through the Home Button on the wired controller.
No replugging or anything.
