original DOTD is probably my all time favorite film.....i watch it at least once a month, if not more often.....it will never get old

and as for the best version, the extended version is better than the argento cut....really all the argento version has is slightly(seconds) longer gore scenes, it cuts out a fair bit of character development and humor scenes, as he felt the humor might not translate.....

the extended version has even more character development and i feel it has the best flow.....

not a huge fan of the remake, but as others have stated, it was effective for what it was, and better than most modern zombie offerings.....

funfact: the remake was filmed in a new mall built in oakville(suburb of toronto), in which they built up the inside to shoot the movie, and then completely gutted it and rebuilt for the real mall

but ya.....i think me and shocky would get along famously....you got some great taste in films, and well informed :)

Love it too, the original is my favourite film also.

I've love to go to the actual mall.

I'm not sure I've ever watched the uber long extended one mind you. Might have to take a look at that. \\o

That's quite some devotion there Jonny5 - I couldn't watch any film once a month, no matter how into it I was.

it embodies what i love about the zombie genre...

as much as i enjoy the gore in most zombie flix, the best ones are all character driven stories that focus more on the survivors and what they are going through.....the reality of the situation

i think the scary thing with zombies isnt so much the zombies themselves.....its the fact that as characters die, they become the enemy.....imagine if you lost a loved one and then was faced with having to 'kill' them to save your own life.....thats some heavy shit!

the reality that all it takes is a single bite and you become that which you are fighting....thats scary....

its not a story about crazy monsters or otherwordly beasts, but the guy next door rising from the dead and trying to eat you.....that strikes very close to home...

next time you are in a crowded place like a mall or something think about it....everyone around you could be zombies.....for every human that dies, thats another zombie thats out to get you.....

i dunno.....zombie films have always appealed to me for this reason.....
