I notice that there is a distinct lack of mention of this fine doujin/freeware shmup in this board.
I personally enjoy it thoroughly. It is very hard, about the same difficulty as ESPrade at least. But it feels very fair and balanced. There are 6 "ships" to choose from, all of which plays very differently.
It is a character-based shmups so the ships have human forms.
The only flaw seems to be that there is a bug that prevents you to pass from one level to the next, so the only way to play through the game is to choose each stage at a time, keeping track at how much you die.
My best run at this game has been all the way to stage 7 with 1 credit. Stage 7 boss and the final boss of this game is arguably THE two hardest bosses in any shmups.
Anyone else around here plays Radiozonde?

I think everybody's just given up for the time being. I still play it a little bit, might get serious again later on. Got to stage 7 with Gophn once.
See also OnesDouble's Radio Zonde site which appears to have a game guide in progress. Especially if you know Japanese (wish I did...)

I guess I should also mention that the OnesDouble site, which I re-discovered like a week ago, is the one that had all the superplay recordings last year. If those recordings are un-assisted and un-edited, the guy must be a machine.
Oh, and you can play from stage to stage, if you pick Touring mode, unless maybe you have a really early version. Even v1.41 (latest) isn't quite finished, which explains maybe why single stages are still selectable. I think the game was planned as a 4-stage free demo and a sale version, but for some reason it was abandoned at about 98% completion.
Hellsinker, the second shooter from Inudon Empire, has a 4-stage free demo. I'd consider buying it, if I had a better computer, and if I could figure out where to get it.
