Space Manbow on Wiiware
http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1229572_1124.html
It seems Space Manbow is getting a release on Wiiware. Probably JP only. I don't know what's written on this page, but looking at the pictures, it's probably a compilation with also Road Fighter and Penguin Adventure.
Well, at least more people will be able to play Space Manbow. Penguin Adventure it's also an AWESOME game.

Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
Is Space Manbow as choppy on an actual MSX as it is on emulators? It's really annoying.
Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
Space Manbow isn't as choppy as Nemesis II / III, at least. It is slightly choppy due to the framerate, that's about it. Difference between MSX2 / 2+ just seems to be the edges of the screen disappearing and filling in due to the software scrolling vs. hardware scroll of MSX2+.

@ Road fighter: You are the weakest link! Get out.
Seriously, this won't come out outside of Japan.
But nice for the new generation there of course.

Man, I wish we would get all the MSX games Japan has been getting here...not enough C64 stuff on the VC and the MSX is so much cooler.

The Virtual Console should NOT be region-locked. The PSN Store isn't, you can get on there and download Japanese titles, so there's no reason for Nintendo to do it. It's a shame, too, because then you'd have access to awesome games like this. I love Space Manbow.ZeetherKID77 wrote:Man, I wish we would get all the MSX games Japan has been getting here...not enough C64 stuff on the VC and the MSX is so much cooler.

Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
I never felt Space Manbow was choppy playing on a real MSX..... on emulators, the game seems to run worse.Raizen1984 wrote:Is Space Manbow as choppy on an actual MSX as it is on emulators? It's really annoying.
But I have an MSX2+, maybe that's why. I hear the game is worse in an MSX2. But in an MSX2+ , I always felt it was very smooth.
I've only saw this happening on emulatorsjust seems to be the edges of the screen disappearing and filling in due to the software scrolling vs. hardware scroll of MSX2+.

Yeah, I felt the same when I saw the games... WTF is Road Fighter doing here?@ Road fighter: You are the weakest link! Get out.

Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
I got lectured about this recently for 1000 hours on Digital Press, apparently the only difference (after I checked it out in BlueMSX) is that the MSX2 non-Plus has to software scroll, causing the edges of the screen to disappear. Frankly, that alone makes the 2+ worth the extra cost.Shatterhand wrote:But I have an MSX2+, maybe that's why. I hear the game is worse in an MSX2. But in an MSX2+ , I always felt it was very smooth.
Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
I used to own a Sony MSX2+ along with Space Manbow a few years back. The game wasn't choppy at all and ran just fine on the MSX2+.Ed Oscuro wrote:I got lectured about this recently for 1000 hours on Digital Press, apparently the only difference (after I checked it out in BlueMSX) is that the MSX2 non-Plus has to software scroll, causing the edges of the screen to disappear. Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
I own both right now. The point was that I got told it works fine on the MSX2 non-plus, the only (?) difference being the background popping in and out every few lines.junkeR wrote:I used to own a Sony MSX2+ along with Space Manbow a few years back. Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
BlueMSX lets you set the type of machine to emulate. The backround of Space Manbow fills in every few lines with an emulated MSX2 and fills smoothly with an MSX2+. The game will only be choppier on the emulator if you don't set the emulator up properly.

So you have to own a Japanese Wii to access the Japanese virtual console shop? If I bought a J-Wii could I get access to their stuff from within the US? I'd kill to get in on the MSX buffet.

Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
I'd want to know how many MSX shmups, and other MSX games, are on the Japanese virtual console shop before taking the plunge. I should get an MSX2+, seeing as I'm a huge Compile fan.8 1/2 wrote:So you have to own a Japanese Wii to access the Japanese virtual console shop? Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
So what are the odds that MSX games ever appear on the North American Virtual Console market?
No, actually. You can change the region setting on your Wii relatively easily with homebrew code.8 1/2 wrote:So you have to own a Japanese Wii to access the Japanese virtual console shop?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Re: Space Manbow on Wiiware
I like Road Fighter MSX, but it feels out of place with the other two games. I rather the arcade version appear on the VC, though I have the DS Konami arcade compilation for that.
