tell us what's wrong. unfortunatly the 360 can only send an interlaced signal through scart.

Sorry i forgot to mention , its a 4.3 . its looks to soft really , ive been reading the main thread and theres some good tips in there, like 160 zoom 4 DPD and Sharp 4 Filter , that actually looks pretty nice but ill have to adjust my TVs geometry settings to fit the screen

Firstly, aside from how your 360 is rendering the game for 640 480, a softness in picture is most likely due to scaling of one kind or another; unless of course there is a convergence/sharpness issue with the crt?

Some crts do have seperate settings for rgbs, component, composite - all of which might be accepted through the a single scart input which might be worth checking.

However first off I recommend you use a true rgb cable. Unfortunately, I presume [if you basically have 3 leads from you 360 and going into the scart adapter - as is the unrecommended but common setup for many EU types - you will be using composite (2 leads for L+R audio, one for all video)] which in itself may well be softening your picture. Typically composite is a more noisey signal than what you might get when you signal is split into R, G, B and sync in a 'proper' rgb scart connection - or in the case of vga most commonly R, G, B and Horizontal sync and vertical sync)

Additionally if you have 2 or more scart sockets on a sony tv do NOT assume they are the same. One will most likely give you a sharper picture but slightly less saturated and the other will give a more saturated but blurry picture. I am not a 100% on why this is but I believe this is because they are setup to deal better [or at least differently] either with RGBS or composite via scart. You should see the most marked difference in this when using a true rgb source...

Of course there is the issue that the picture will be interlaced and more obviously flicker - I would say this would often result in a less steady, and therefore softer picture...? ... your only way of combating that is to use an extron emotia or similar to squash the 480 resolution to 240.

Finally, and as a 2nd kind of issue/enquiry I'm very dubious as to how exactly many games are designed to fit a 4:3 screen format on 360 - with many of them consisting first of a letterbox system to which the game is simply scaled rather than a crop before adding/reducing scale and repositioning certain assets. Unfortunately not yet possessing futari I can't say exactly whether this could be an unfortunate issue at 640 480 ...[hurry up mail]

... I wonder if anyone else has experienced this oddity particularly when attaching a 360 to a 4:3 vga monitor and trying the various 4:3 resolutions?

Doesn't matter, anyone saying Emotia on it (except the Jr. model) will work.

I would actually try looking at the 360 modes, they look really good at 640x480.
