Re: Google Wave invites
I just sent the invites. It seems they're going out pretty fast now, it used to take a few days before they'd arrive but it's down to hours now.

Re: Google Wave invites
Quick tip: change your search from "in:inbox" to "with:public" to view the public waves, which is where most of the action is right now. From there I'm sure you'll find some tutorial / how-to waves to bookmark.
There are definitely some serious performance issues, but I still think it has potential if they can streamline it. You should definitely be running Chrome, though, for starters, and then it's at least usable. It would be a lot of fun to write games for it.

Re: Google Wave invites
I got an invite from fellow swedish shmupper Lowemark, but I am yet to try it out. Actually I am yet to understand what it is, but that will hopefully clear once I try it out

Re: Google Wave invites
I've been trying it out, it's really neat. I don't have much of a use for it myself but I think for a lot of people it will prove to be really useful! If there's anything you need to collaborate with other people on, or you need real-time editing with more than one person, you'll find a use for it, I think.

There's 2 left now.
I really haven't used it much till I got my invites since I didn't know anyone else who had it. It's pretty cool and I see how it can be useful. But it doesn't seem like much more than a beefed up forum. Should be nice for doing collaborative projects though, I'm hoping I can use it for something in school at some point.

Re: Google Wave invites
I'm rather interested, seems like it could be very, very useful.

Re: Google Wave invites
After uploading a WIP song I'm making for a friend to Wave, I'm now interested in using it as a way to collaborate making music with someone...

Re: Google Wave invites
So stupid question, but what exactly IS it? I know it's Google's take on social networking, but it seems there's quite a bit of added fiddle-faddle that I unfortunately haven't been able to find summarized in a concise manner.
Re: Google Wave invites
it's some weird cross between a typical chatroom and then a message board. other than the fact that you see what other people are typing in realtime, I haven't seen much else.
edit: hey guys I made a shmups wave, add yer butts and talk about shmups

Re: Google Wave invites
Think of it more as a real-time collaboration tool. You start a "Wave" which is kind of like a forum post. It can be text, or embedded videos or images or google maps. Any person you add to the wave (and it can be multiple people), they can view your wave and make any changes they like to it, or add replies to it. All edits can be viewed in real-time as they happen, by everyone on the wave. All edits are labeled by who made them and when. There's a whole host of other features but that's the general gist of it.
