Thanks for the advice, Taylor! Yeah, I have itchy enough thumbstick fingers when it comes to danmaku, and I think I have discovered the whole "Ideally you want to move diagonal upwards as you approach the sides, then down - it makes it's easier to turn around." on my own, but it's only been my later runs that I've realized this. I'm always pleasantly surprised when I dodge something crazy, so I definitely should take these tips to heart.

I'm continuing to try to stay off the edges of the screen, and I'm getting better at dodging shots without being run into the edges, thankfully. I... I have to be honest, I was dreaming about this game last night... ^^;;;;

Also, I'll check the leaderboards when I get home. I'm a little embarrassed to give my gamertag, since a lot of my replays and leaderboard ranks are pretty pathetic, but hey- we can't all be experts. So, I'm IceCoffin on XBL.

I get the feeling I'm getting the mechanics entirely wrong, since sometimes it seems I can reflect without the backup character's counter going down at all, and sometimes it drops thousands within a second.
If the reflecting character's counter is less than 9999 then how much it drops when reflecting seems to be based on how many bullets you reflect at once. If the counter is 9999 you can reflect whatever the hell you want in small bursts and it only drops the counter a little bit. Ideally what you do is get the reflect counter to 9999 and reflect for as short a time as you can so when the field starts slowing more bullets down the counter goes right back to 9999.

Are you sure he's played the same mode that you've selected for the leaderboard? It has separate leaderboards for each mode and difficulty, so if you're looking at 1.5 Original and your friend's only played Arrange Original, he's not going to show up on that leaderboard.
I checked all Leaderboards for all modes, but my scores are the only ones showing...

I'll add a few of you here that have posted your gamertags and check. CaptainRansom - are you playing with a US gamertag?

Yes, I'm playing with a US gamertag.

That's really weird about the filter, but I don't have any friends that play this, so I can't test it myself. =(

For what it's worth, I've only experienced the music volume glitch while watching replays, it's never happened to me during a game. I did get the bug where uber-Larsa's options were still shooting around me after I wasted her in Novice Ultra. I haven't seen any outright graphic glitches in any of the modes.

Is your friend playing in Score Attack as opposed to Normal Play? Is he/she pressing A to the question after the replay saving one to submit the score to the leaderboards?

Ah, now I think I get it. So, the first message is "save replay?", and the second is "send to leaderboards"?

questions about the saved replay's: do you have to manually save to your hard drive in order for you post a replay on the leader boards? and, is there any limit to what places can upload their replay's? ive seen lots of random ones with replays attached, so it seems like most if not all can upload them.

sikraiken wrote:Maybe this was explained elsewhere, but I bought the regular game, pre-order, from play-asia and my game didn't come with the DLC card. What gives?
Not all pre-order copies shipped out were first-print (which included the card), and not all retailers (most notably P-A) gave first-print copies out to the earliest orderers. I reserved my copy from them pretty much as soon as the game became available, and didn't get one either.
sadly this is what happened to me as well. i wasnt to worried about it at first, but the more i think about it, the more pissed off i am that there is game content on my disc (that i pre ordered on day 1!) that i wont be able to unlock.

i hate shitty pre-order scams and this is one of the worst offenders right here. not pleased.

the game is awesome though.

God mode on the BL DLC
BL is alot of fun... I'm am curious how folks will react to it.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Well, hopefully Cave will have some DL item available in the future for those that lack 1st Edition prints, especially since the Black Label selection is basically staring at you in the face on the main menu screen. That, and the download instructions are on the game site, and it's mentioned in the manual, regardless of edition.

So, I'm rather hopeful that Cave will do something, soon. In the meantime, I'm having enough fun with what I have- it's hard enough for me!

Yeah, I'm pretty certain that's how it works. I don't think you can upload a replay unless you first save it to your HDD/Memory Card.

Yeah, I suspect that's what my friend hasn't been doing. I just added BrightSuzaku and CaptainRansom and their scores are now showing on my Friends filtered Leaderboards. Looks like I have some catching-up to do - my scores are way behind! I'm in the top 100 on ver. 1.01 though, however, I suspect that's because not many people have been playing that mode...

I haven't really been focussing on any particular mode just yet. I've just been jumping from one mode to the next. I'll start focussing now I have some scores to chase.

Top 20 scores for each character (Normal and Abnormal are considered separate) require a replay, otherwise the score won't be uploaded. Scores below that range won't attach a replay.

Edit: maybe not, looking at Novice Maniac I'm not quite sure what the pattern is now. I guess I'll have to play well enough to get another replay uploaded and see what it says.

Mainly what I'm wondering is what triggers the large gems, it seemed like 90% of the time I was getting the small ones, and when I got the big ones I had no clue why.
Large gems drop in fever mode, you need to get both counters to 9999 and use your focus/A shot to activate. After this your counters will drop while everything spews giant gems. Since your counters are both dropping anyways, just hold focus for the duration and try to keep stuff alive..
Thanks, I see them now and then normally also but I think that might just be certain enemies that do it. I've been watching replays a bit and I think this mode could keep me busy for a long time, it seems like there's constantly huge scoring opportunities.

Added you two back, bcass and BrightSuzaku. From your posts, it seems we're all pretty even skill-wise, so it should be fun to keep each other motivated to get better. =)

I'm in the exact same boat. I've played about 15 credits of 1.5 Original, 1 of 1.5 Maniac, 2 of 1.5 Ultra, I think I tried 1.01 Original once, two Novice Original, four Novice Ultra, and a few various Arrange. I really need to get myself focused, but all the different modes/difficulties are different enough to all keep my interest.

Maybe I'll just focus on 1.5 Original for a while.

...I kind of wish I could view the leaderboards from Xbox.com, lol. Anyways, this will allow us all to have a more lively discussion about playing styles and our overall growth as we get more skilled. :3

I guess that kind of talk would go in the strategy thread, though. XD

EDIT: Added you. LOL, Xbox.com~

With all the filtering they put in, the fact that you can't get an aggregate of your own scores in one mode with all characters is kinda lame. :?

I think the "certain enemies" you're seeing is that—if I'm not mistaken—when one of the characters is at 9999 (I think it may only be the left counter?) large gems drop from enemies instead of small ones. The points you get from that are peanuts compared to going into fever, though.

Constantly huge scoring opportunities seems more like "milking the hell out of the final boss", based on what nZero posted in the strategy thread, lol

When you select Arrange from the main menu, you get to choose between Arrange and Novice. I had a hard time finding it myself, but just really run it when I have a novice visiting. :D
Ah thats good to know was worried I was worse than I thought and was playing novice

Feel free to add me anyone (Dazzyman) but dont expect any scores till xmas day (I have all the other JPN shmup as well like DDPDJ etc..) gamertag is UK.

But so it doesn't get out of hand I wanted to point everyone to this thread for all tht sort of stuff.

Unfortunately I'm still waiting on my copy (damn international priority shipping >:( I thought I'd have it by now ), but I'm more than excited to hammer out many hours of Mushi. You guys can add me as well if you want. My gamertag is Solarus755.

I already added my gamertag to the other topic as well a while ago, but I think being able to focus on a single game in question makes it easier, especially since people don't know what games others have, haha. Looking forward to this game! :D

I have this REALLY strange feeling that Abnormal Palm is a little stronger on the X360 port than on the PCB. I don't remember killing stuff this fast when I had the PCB. Then again, it's about several months since I've touched the PCB and I was able to 1CC 1.5 Original in the most half-assed way possible on my very first run upon booting up the game.

Also, this has been annoying me for so long now and I can't unhear it. I swear, I think Palm is calling out my name at the beginning of the Stage 4 boss or something. fffffffffffffffffff-

Oh, and my gamertag = my username.

You can turn the voice volume down to 0 in this most excellent of ports. Let's hope that the lock on sound for Ketsui can be turned off as well. :D

I still haven't figured out which mode I'm gonna focus on yet. What I have been doing so far is focusing on a mode for a bit and then switching it up when I think I hit the wall. I got a ton of playtime in on this just playing all the variants of Arrange/Novice. I still need to clear Ultra Arrange, the last boss is a bitch.
