If only I had carpet I'd do the same.

I have a 50" plasma, and I'm sad to know I'll never tate it =(

No, I'm only using a CRT monitor with my 360, nothing else. I'm still trying to find the optimal settings for Arcade, dunno what they are.

Anyway, I think Ultra Arrange is a clusterfuck and I can't score very well on it at all. Time to hit up some replays, I guess.

+1. That pissed me off, so I figured I'd just continue to get the "Pick up a max power up item" achievement out of the way. :)

BTW, it looks like Futari has sold less than Deathsmiles so far. 15k. (edit: Deathsmiles was 20k.) Still pretty good but... :(

The LE is #95 on Amazon JP's "top-selling game items" right now and that has gone up since I last checked (it wasn't in the top 100) so maybe it'll have legs.

If your CRT monitor can handle 480p with no upscaling then have the 360 set to 480p. You need the game tated also. Then just set the screen size to be dot by dot, and then the scanline setting at 3xSharp.

The pics of mine are via the system putting out a 480p signal, tated with the 3xSharp setting.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

While playable, it doesn't feel like what it was like when I was playing the PCB. I'm using:

2x Scanlines
16
Colors = everything off
SimplifyDraw = off

This seems better, unless someone can suggest something else.
Playing the Arcade mode + Extron Emotia? I'm still missing a VGA adapter and can't test it myself... someone out there with the right set up is willing to upload pics of Mishishimesma Futari running on the 360 with nice scanlines? The filters in the game are ok but unfortunately they go away when turning "SimplifyDraw" on to get rid of the wallpaper image as you mentioned.
To get rid of the wallpaper, turn its brightness down to 0 in one of the advanced submenus. Filtering can be defeated by turning off smoothing, also in one of the submenus. Is the menu structure unnecessarily complex or what? Same effect but you don't have to activate SimplifyDraw and can still use scanlines et al.

On a different note, I'm really digging the Novice modes. Now I'm a casual shooter player and even I can 1lc or, when stupidity strikes, 1cc them, but they a) are fun and b) have a different purpose. It's the best shooter tutorial, the right mixture of learning and success for someone new to the genre. They cover all the basics step by step, herding bullets, reading patterns and keeping your cool, it bombs when you should have. I know they've done this before but it's never been structured so well, each stage is like a class. Man I had a blast and couldn't stop thinking about sitting some people in front of these modes to get them into the game/genre. The disconnect between the fans and the uninitiated is huge, and to go back far enough to start like most of us you'd have to be both a retro fan and not be too ADD on the motivational side. The Novice modes are the right kind of motivating baby steps. Yes, they had to be that easy, what we consider easy is soul crushing, put-the-stick-down-what-is-this-bullshit to even gamer friends. Galuda ain't it, that shit melts people's minds on level 1.

Nice, thanks for the info! I'm guessing I won't see mine until next week due to being in the middle of bloody nowhere, but it's good to know that the slow-shipped copies are starting to arrive.

They obviously also needed a second shipment, as this whole DLC card fiasco is showing us. Usually software trackers don't account for online or export sales (although these are usually a small percentage compared to retail purchases).

Though Cuilan's post (that I totally missed ) makes a good point: the 15k is pretty much guaranteed to be only within Japan. Still kind of lame that Futari had a smaller opening than Deathsmiles.

We won't know if our sales have made a big difference until Asada posts something to that extent, probably. It'd be cool if so, but who knows what tiny fraction of the initial shipment ended up in the hands of import suppliers? Who knows whether all the units they shipped on launch day were part of the "first print" or how many they've shipped now? Etc., etc.

All of it came with the LE, but if you're getting the standard LE it won't have the telephone card or faceplate stickers shown in my picture.

That's still awesome (I just have the standard LE - I'm assuming the large item to the left of the box is the faceplate sticker and the small card to the right of the soundtrack is the phone card). I was mostly worried about how the soundtrack would be pacakaged. Thanks for posting that picture!

Only four and a half more hours of work to go...

Side note: despite pre-ordering in October, I did not receive the 1.01 DLC card. Oh, well.

Is there any *functional* difference between Arcade and Xbox 360 modes in "Ver 1.5?" I understand that Arcade uses the original graphics and X360 mode is redrawn (and freaking gorgeous btw), but is there any other difference? It looks like the answer is no, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.
Hopefully I'll get mine today then. And you should make a stink about the card. PA's original item description listed the DLC card right? If so then you didn't get the item you ordered.

If you bought it from CAVE directly, you got extra shit. Catch is, you'd need a middleman if you lived outside Japan.

Strider77 to the rescue!! hahaha! Thank you for taking the time to upload the pictures :D To tell you the truth, can't figure which are from the Extron and which with the 3xSharp filter. Could you edit your post and write a note on the pictures? Either way, the images look wonderful!!

Thanks for the tips Liersi. I just tested the game last night for a few minutes and didn't have much time to dig the entire collection of settings nicely buried in the option menus. Making things clear and tidy? Why bother! At least this time we get what we wanted, even if the layout is a mess. Can't be happier

For someone living in Canada, that has NEVER imported a game, but has been on a massive SHMUP kick (picked up Raiden Aces, Raiden 4, Ikaruga, Raiden 3, Castle Shikigami (sorry for spelling) and a few others the past months) how would I go about picking up this game to play on a NA 360?

Thank you.

If I were you I'd just order one from www.ncsx.com and be done with it.

Has anyone placed a non pre-order...order of this since release date from play-asia? I ordered mine late last night, and it said it already shipped and I'm wondering how long it took some of you guys. I paid for the cheap 5-10 days, but with no tracking so I'm curious if anyone got theirs faster than that.

PA's item description now doesn't mention the card, and to be honest, I don't recall whether it mentioned the card when I placed my pre-order (on September 30th!). Plus...what can they really do for me? I already opened my copy, and even if I did expect them to open someone else's just for a DLC card, they probably don't have any more of those copies left. Fortunately, I'm not that upset about it. This game has more content than most STG as it is, even without 1.01.

I received my copy from PA exactly seven days after it shipped. There was a Sunday in there, and Thanksgiving as well, so it might or might not have been slightly less under different circumstances.

It really is, but once you get into the rhythm and get into Fever Mode effectively, your number will just skyrocket. Everything kind of clicked with me at the end of stage 4 in my last Ultra Arrange run, and I'm going to try to apply it to when I play again tonight. You really don't even have to pay attention to the bullets as much as you do the numbers at the bottom of the screen.

...I'm wondering if I should have asked a friend of mine to middleman for me, now. O_O; Maybe, depending on the news about Espgaluda II, I'll ask!

And oh, man, I'm still trying to work out the strategy here by watching videos on Yourube. I keep thinking, "Maybe I should just relax! it's my first time playing Mushi, so I should just calm down and then figure it out later." But then, at the same time... there's a sense of "pride" here, I think. Although I'm bad enough to not worry too much about it. Haha.

Also, I'm trying Novice Original first, that appears 1CC'able, compared to Novice Ultra (which looks like extreme fun). Weirdly enough, I sometimes die more on a game's "easy" modes than I do on the regular modes, because I would get used to there being more bullets... fast bullets, too... So, I tend to play Raiden on "Arcade" or "Original" difficulty. Then, I completely mess things up on "Easy", and I'm all, "What?"

I'll bet ya anything, it'll probably be the same thing again when Mushi comes... Which should be soon, if someone who chose the slow bubble-package method got theirs already.

Nice, thanks for the info! I'm guessing I won't see mine until next week due to being in the middle of bloody nowhere, but it's good to know that the slow-shipped copies are starting to arrive.
Been playing this to ease the pain of having to wait for Futari to arrive via economy air.

Great news guys, be sure to post some pictures up so we can see what the package looks like when you find it on the doormat, and snap one of your postman too if possible!

On a serious note though, I appreciate that you're excited about your game like kids at christmas, but, regardless of whether you've just joined the forum or otherwise, the shipping updates are totally inane. It's not news, whether you live in New York or Montreal, Hawaii or the Himalayas, whether you had it bubble wrapped or opted for shipping by camel.
Nobody really gives a shit when you get it, or whereabouts your package is in transit.
Just get it, play it, then tell everyone what you think of it.

I am going to take a picture of my deliveryman just for you. :D Also, any way, shape, or form to get this hooked up to an old cocktail monitor by any chance? I am not a big arcade buff and dont really understand the inner-workings of the machine but was wondering if it was possible to get the 360 hooked up to one of those old cocktail monitors that people play Galaga and such on?
