Yeah, the hitbox always feels a little off with X.X games. I think the problem is that the bullet hitboxes aren't exactly their sprites, and also there's some allowed overlap between the highlighted hitbox in the center of the player character and bullet sprites, but it's not clear exactly what. Sometimes it feels like you should've gotten hit and didn't, and other times the opposite.

I think the main problem is the hitbox is a little too low for me. I think for 'flying people' shooters, the perfect position is just between the shoulder blades, a la ESPGaluda. Having the hitbox constantly visible is helping me acclimatise, but I often end up auto bombing when I really feel it would have been a clean dodge. It would be nice if this could be revised for the final version, but I'm not holding my breath.

Ivejust seen the vids that ite7 put on You tube of stages 3,4 and 5 and judging by them the game seems really good. I expecially like the scoring system as it doesn't have those stupid hiddent chests like in BWR. Which is why im just playing it to improve my shmuping and try for a 1cc and not to score. I still plan on waiting untill verison 1.00 b4 i play this game as ive soo many titles to get thru anyway.

Has there been any news of when it's gonna be finished? Google translate is a bit tembrimental with me at times as some jap web pages refuse to translate for me.

Okay, finally managed to beat the stage 3 boss with a life in stock, and, as I suspected, sailed through to the final boss.

There's definitely no extend on the Stage 3 mid boss, sorry. I must have just triggered the score based extend around when I killed it the first time I thought I got it.

The fixed extend on the stage 4 boss is pretty easy to get, you just need to remember to stay on the right of the screen.

Nice little ESPGaladua 'homage' on the stage 4 boss's second form :P

Extends every 7 million? Awesome. It gives players something to work towards. It annoys me in games like Mushihimesama, where I can get both the score based extends every play with ease, yet I'm nowhere near good enough to finish the game. Even if they're set crazy high, every shooter should have an every extend feature. I remember your man from Cave saying in an interview that he would rather every Cave game had an every extend, but the only one they could get permission was Progear (obviously Ibara, PinkSweets and Muchi have bucked that trend since, but since having extra lives in tow dramatically increases the games difficulty, I guess AMI let them slide).

Is it that hard for doujin game makers to let you remap keyboard controls?

Right now, I'm currently aiming for version 1.00 (or maybe 0.90).
Danbo Daxter wrote:Is it that hard for doujin game makers to let you remap keyboard controls?
Most doujin shmup makers create a game with controllers in mind, so that's why it's a bit limited when it comes to keyboard controls. You can't really configure anything else other than the action buttons, and that's especially limited to Z, X, C, A, S, D, Q, W, and E, from button 0-8 respectively.

Then again, said every extend feature has its problems as well, especially when pro players (in this case, GOOD players) can max out the life stock around stage 4 or 5. This could use some tweaking, but that's entirely up to x.x Game Room at this point.

So people rather play a scoring system where 1 mistake costs 80% of your score than one where hidden chests affect maybe 4% of the score?

Also, did I miss something or why is everyone playing with autoguard off? Is the score bonus for putting it off different from other x.x games?

They should bring back the old way of doing things. When you die or when you hit auto-guard, it should slice a fraction of your bonuses, not all. Some even said on x.x's BBS that it's pretty brutal having your bonus counter reset when you die or auto-guard, so hopefully we'll see that change in the next version.

Uh, you'd rather lose a life and all remaining bombs and your whole chain, instead of losing just a bomb and your chain? I don't know if there is a bonus for not using Autoguard but it's certainly better to guard than to die. Especially since there is a biiiig end game bonus for lives remaining.

The game is just extremely, extremely heavily focused on the no-miss in general. Extra bonus for the stages being insanely unbalanced in terms of scoring. The last stage is worth something on the order of what... 20m without end bonuses? More?

Not a bad game overall though. I hope they fix the no-music playing bug, and also I wish they'd bring back the old boss music from the last version, it was much better than the new one (or is still in there somewhere?).

Has anyone else had any issue with their PC speakers since installing this? Not that I'm even sure i installed it -- I opened the file in the download and I'm not sure if it was an installation file or a simply a zipped file.

Anyway, the two PCs I've played this game on have given of this horrible frequency buzz ever since, even when I'm not playing the game. Does it install any Japanese sound-related drivers that would conflict with Windows XP?

[looked at the blog post above the previous one]

Not only is Eve going to be in the final release, but there will also be a new character named Ridmie.

The GREEN WIND girl has a name now!

Version 0.90 is out!

Seems the music is now in mp3. Good (or bad?) timing considering half the people are locked up playing Mushi Futari watatatatata.

Apart from adding more content, has x.x made any changes to the gameplay mechanics? (hopefully v1.00 will be out soon and i can give aegis a whirl :)

Plus i take back my gripe on BWR hidden chests as they grew on me after a while

On auto-bomb you don't lose all your counter and there are less extends. (1st: 7m, 2nd: 30m I think).

0.9 feels more harder than 0.5. Might be because of lack of extends.
I feel betrayed because I got only two extends with score of 65 million. That would have been 9 extends.

It seems that you can't save replay or score if wait or auto-bomb is on. Pfft. Made a run without shield, died at last boss with score of 108 million.

I no-missed the stage ( wait off, autoguard off ), but missed at the boss. I had around 75 million before the boss. I had made some mistakes such as bombing some enemies, not gemming one midboss phase etc. If you no-miss the boss and score the whole stage you might get well over 100 million!
Also if you want a replay: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mimzd4oyn ... stage5.zip ( version 0.9 )

Stage 5 is extremely hard. Has anyone any information if there is a TBL after last boss in hell-mode?

Never mind, I figured it out.

Vetus and I must be the biggest of noobs, because no one seem to care about this.
In any case, I had to change the PC language in the regional settings to Japanese (tried installing shit like some online sources recommend, but this was the only way to make it work).

Quick question here. When replacing the music, do you have to retain the original file names or not?

Dunno if there's a more elegant solution, but I just replaced the stage 1 music with an mp3 of the same name ("Warmup" by Cyber_Rainforce, a much better effort) and it works like a charm.

Edit: I guess the answer to your question is yes. Retain the original file names.
