Raiden IV 360 US-Bound...
Re: Raiden IV 360 US-Bound...
It happens for me too. I first played the japanese version of Raiden IV and got several achievements. A year down the line I get the US version and unlock new achievements which just overlap the japanese version.
Re: Raiden IV 360 US-Bound...
I recently picked up a very nice 27'' flat screen CRT from Goodwill for $50. The damn thing probably weights as much as I do but it looks gorgeous tated. It was also fun tating the TV in store to make sure the picture didn't distort. I don't think I could have gotten away with that at a pawn shop.Riot Zone wrote:I know a guy who was so fed up with that he went out and bought a cheap Sanyo 19 inch HDTV, so he could play Raiden Fighters and IV in proper tate mode. Said the small 19 inch rotated in an upright picture frame is at least 3 inches wider then his 25 inch CRT was set at the default hori setting enlarged (on the sides) to the max.
I was able to land a copy of this today on eBay for $26 shipped. My Gamestop didn't care enough to carry it locally when it was released.

Most newer games that are released both in Japan and overseas have ONE Achievement list shared between all regions. There is no "Japanese Achievement list" or "European Achievement list" or otherwise; there is one set of Achievements only. The language that appears on your profile will be that of the first version you played.sideshow wrote:It happens for me too. This was done to stop players from earning 2000 or 3000 points from the same game just by importing from different regions.

It has nothing to do with stopping players from earning the same achievements twice. When publishing an Xbox 360 game, you get assigned a Title ID, ie: 425307D5. When publishers makes a lot of changes to a game from one region to the other, it will ask MS to put it out as a separate game. Usually because they will not support cross region Xbox LIVE gameplay. With a different title ID, the 360 will see the game as a completely different game. This is why some games lets you re-earn achievements when playing a version from a different region.yyr wrote: This was done to stop players from earning 2000 or 3000 points from the same game just by importing from different regions.
One common reason to do it is for German releases. When releasing a game in Germany, you can't reward the players for killing other human beings.

Not sure if it's been mention yet, but the DLC is finally on the Canadian Marketplace, if there are any canadians left who haven't bought it off the JPN/US networks...

I brought my import 360 with shmups to Daishocon this weekend (Anime convention in Wisconsin, USA). I had a very educational conversation while playing Raiden IV:
"Is this Radiant Silvergun?"
"No, this is Raiden Four."
"Oh, cool. So is this the game Radiant Silvergun is based on?"
You heard it here first. Radiant Silvergun is based on Raiden IV.

That's up there with my convo with a Gamestop employee who thought RIV was the sequel to Ikaruga.Jeneki wrote:I brought my import 360 with shmups to Daishocon this weekend (Anime convention in Wisconsin, USA). I had a very educational conversation while playing Raiden IV:

Hurrah! About bloody time! Shame that I spent the last of my MS points on that horrible new Pinball FX table though (grumble grumble).WarBovine wrote:Not sure if it's been mention yet, but the DLC is finally on the Canadian Marketplace, if there are any canadians left who haven't bought it off the JPN/US networks...

The main focus is an anime convention, but they put a lot more emphasis on gaming than most other cons I regular. Their gameroom is bigger than their dealer's room. Really fun time if you're into console games.
If you're in Wisconsin, I also suggest checking out the Midwest Gaming Classic, which puts most of their emphasis on arcade machines. http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/

Thanks for the news, I haven't booted up my 360 since the beginning of October. I'll grab the DLC once I quickly set up my computer to share the LAN connection. I hope I still have some Xbox points.Malc74 wrote:Hurrah! About bloody time!
