I know if I scour my local Game Crazy store, sometimes I can find an occasional lone Genesis shmup cart that isn't in my stash (but it takes a pair of "eagle eyes" to spot them out of the many Genesis cart out there).

Tell me about it, finding Genny shmups at stores has been hard indeed. I got them Disc Replay, a used cd store. We have about 3 or 4 of them in a mile range of where I live. They just got a shitload of new carts in, and I grabbed just about every shmup they had. I'm really pissed because the one I was the most excited to play (Air Buster) dosen't work!
Maybe another cleaning of the contacts is needed.

Do you have lots of experience with monitors, and do you recommend those M-Audio ones?

not a ton of experience, but i did a shitload of research, and trying to work with a budget...the AV-40's seem to be the top ranked 'desktop' class reference monitors under $200....you go another step up and your looking at at least as much as the AV-40's cost just for one speaker....and even the next step up for the m-audio line is like $250-$300 and much larger

they are good for me, because they arent too big, and they have stereo RCA input, 1/4" TRS input and 1/8" aux input, and obviously headphones out....and they are powered, so i didnt have to buy an amp or anything....

20 watt amp per speaker.....

they really pound and the sound clarity is pretty jaw dropping....i was pretty surprised how much bass they bump, and they have an onboard bassboost switch....then they really pound....

i got them for like $150cad shipped....if you can find them for a similar price i would highly recommend them

im quite impressed with them....they look pretty slick too 8)

I'm not an audio guru but I highly recommend Audioengines. http://www.audioengineusa.com/

I have the 5's for use with my gaming TV and they are amazing. I am trying to get the 2's for my computer desk.

For caincan,

On the average, how much do blank recordable LaserDiscs cost for use with a recordable LD unit?

And is the quality of the video recording on par with say like a 1st generation DVD movie disc?

Is it possible to copy a classic arcade LD game (i.e. Dragon's Lair, Interstellar, etc.) and use the backup copy LD on a normal LD player or would you have to use the LD burner unit as the main player instead?

I recall that the early 1980s LD players inside them arcade LD game cabs like Starcom's Dragon's Lair & Universal's Super Don Quixote were quite notorious for skipping if you shoved the cab too hard. The Atari Games arcade LD game of Firefox had a Phillps LD player with absolutely no skipping and would play FMV scenes uninterrupted and flawlessly. I was surprised to see a rare deluxe sit-down cab setup of Atari's Firefox LD game at the 2009 California Extreme show on display but it wasn't working. I've tried the more common upright Firefox LD cab and it is ace. Would've been nice to try it out for old time's sake. ^_~

I do remember Pioneer's cool LaserActive LD player and gaming console combo unit (with support for both MD and PC Engine gaming with the LD software titles). Quite impressive for it's time back in the day and mucho dinero at retail.

there are much questions in suspense for us too :o . with this burner. will it work? can we unseal "caddy rack" to use these LDRW on another classic ld player?

the medias used to cost about 400€ /piece for only 26mn of recording  , the seller we got them from, had some stocks and it spared apart to many curious people on ebay, he had ONE burner... and it was'nt even clear.. my seller had initiative to search it in his warehouse, i was nearly sure there was some burner too :) . since, i know from a LD community, that another french has TWO LD burners  .

It was free shipping (while stocks last, "limited edition" apparently).

EDIT: I see Sega just blogged about the pad here.

I'm a little confused about the case for SOTN though, I thought all Saturn cases are supposed to be white?

I don't have a photograph since I opened it up and used some as soon as I got home, but here's a pic from the manufacturer's website:

Ikea trip with the girlfriend, bought some decorations for our tree, sidetables for the bedroom, and this amazing stool which has allowed me to beat my personal best in Espgaluda (12m, not much but it's progress!):

Also, few pairs of jeans, couple shirts, and a cardigan. Expensive weekend :x

Rainbow Cotton man? I don't know what your reason was but you couldn't have done much worse than this game. Also, Symphony of the Night on Saturn should have a transparent case, not opaque white like import Dreamcast releases.

Yeah, I read a lot bad impressions about Rainbow cotton. But I like the graphic style and I enjoy rail-shooters so I thought I'd give it a try at least. Is the SOTN supposed to be transparent on the side? Not just plain black?

Rainbow Cotton blows. It might be interesting though if you record a super-play like run of it.

To reiterate about Symphony...
