Hmmm. A quick google suggests its not possible. :(

Info I found here : http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/off-top ... 50/?page=2

Says that Microsoft check your IP address to find if its in Japan for 'on-demand' games. You could possibly circumvent this check by connecting via a proxy in japan but it seems a lot of hassle, and the game itself may do further region-check on your machine...I hope this is not so...I'm eager to get Raiden Fighters : Aces on my PAL 360. (Downloaded the demos ages ago, great games)

It's not possible to get Games on Demand titles unless you're inside Japan.

Nice!
Let's see:
1- I have a J 360.
2- My Live ID's Country/Region is USA. (I did this so I could use US mspoints)
3- I live in Iran.

Do you think I can use my points to buy RFA from Games on Demand USA?

I think you're screwed on all counts.

Assuming you're able to purchase the title at all (I don't know what the payment/locale restrictions are like for US Games on Demand), the game probably carries the same regioning as the retail disc, and the retail disc was locked out of NTSC J.

I just tried a US VPN to bypass the IP check, but It says:
Sorry

This content is not available for consoles in your region.
Yup. I'm screwed.

You don't buy Games on Demand with MS points. They're under a completely different payment system.

You can use MS points. It defaults to a direct credit card charge, but you can change the payment option to points.

It's good see more shmups (among other "sleeper" games) getting the Games on Demand treatment, seeing as they're difficult to find in retail stores after a while. The disc copy of RFA that I bought? It was the last one at the store I went to.

Hey folks, does this game work on my Japanese console? I have a Canadian Live account so it would be nice to have the game for only 20 bucks.

Region locked. You have to buy the more expensive JP disc version.

Not true. You can buy the JPN GoD release from the JPN Marketplace, but you'll need to use a JPN VPN.

I don't think either of you understood MSZ's question..

If you live in Canada or the US, and have a JP console, go ahead and download it with an account of that region. However if you have a JP console and are outside of the US, it's no good, you'll have to import the JP version.

I understood him perfectly. He can't buy the US GoD release, but he can buy the JPN GoD release (for far less money than the JPN retail release).

No, no I don't think you did at all. All he said was that he has a Japanese console with a Canadian account, meaning that if he were to purchase it via his Canadian account, would it work with his JP console. The answer is yes, it would.

The US release of RFA is region locked, so you're wrong, it would not work with his JPN console. The only GoD release he can download is from the JPN Marketplace.

Have you actually tested this and can confirm that a region locked US game won't run on a JP console, even after purchasing?

Yes I have, and you can easily test it out yourself. I attached my HDD to a PAL console and non of the JPN/Asian GoD games would work (the region-free ones did).

To bump a six year old thread...

It's pretty possible that I'm just super bad at finding things, but I can't find this in the Japanese Xbox Games on Demand section. Has it been delisted? I can't seem to find anything on it indicating that it has been...

thanks!

This is the game's official Japanese Marketplace page, the lack of options to purchase (usually you can purchase them via the site and download them if all else fails) usually means it's been delisted. Sucks because the retail Japanese copies are crazy expensive now. Great collection though.

Haha, should have tried looking on their website. I hadn't thought of that... >.<

Sucks, but thanks. I do have the US version, but I'd like to not have to use two Xboxes. I think that's one of the few games I have that will not play on my jp 360...
