I believe the card works with any of the HiSaturns.

Either you are insanely rich, or you sell internal organs for money. Can I have some (money, that is)?

Argh!

Buying them all up to skyrocket the price eh!

Not selling one of them to me for a quarter of the original price will result in bad karma! Really! ... you don't believe me? ... Well try me! ... please!?

Please have mercy. ;)

Na... the other one I bought was missing the box, though it did have the uberly rare screen, so yay for that.

This one had the box, but no screen (which was sold seperately). So yay! Now I just need a boxed screen.

And I'm getting the money by getting rid of the PC-Engine Duo R and the collection therein. Somethings just take precedence.

Well I for one admire your dedication to a single console like the Saturn, JP. I'm sure you have other consoles, but it's still admirable, and I mean that sincerely.

I need to just find ONE TV-console for shmups, and stick with that for good. The problem is, IMO, there's just TOO many shmupping consoles to choose from. :(

Cool deal. I guess this is what you've been selling your PC-Engine stuff for. :)

Didn't you just start your PCE collection?

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

Yeah, but after the crappy luck he had with that, I don't blame him for putting it off... I'm sure the lure of the system will bring him back someday though.

That is one hell of a console, all it needs is the saturn modem plugged in and a dvd player and bang the all in one sega home entertainment unit.

Its a very nice design are you actually going to play on it? or just keep in storage with 28 other saturns. :D

I'm not one to bash anyone for what they collect (I've always said, collect and play what makes you happy no matter what others think!). But many used consoles are so very cheap now that I don't really see any logical reason why anyone would stick with one console these days. Having too many shooter consoles is a good thing - start with a Saturn since it rocks and for the price of a single good import saturn game you can have a Dreamcast, PSX, Megadrive and SNES consoles and then start to get all of the great exclusives and better versions they have to offer. Otherwise, there are simply too many all-time great games that won't end up in your collection. I'm at the point where I've found most of my consoles at yard sales and blow-out sales at local gamestores and such - and I spend my time hunting down the best shooters (well, the best games!) for a wide vareity of cheap consoles.

jp: Awesome pick-up! Those HiSaturns are amazing. I don't own one, but I've got 4 normal Sega Saturns (the better US rev 2's only... I modify them myself for Japan territory and use a converter cart for the few US games I own).

The thread is still up, but it's like 300 threads long or something...

The skinny of it: The system showed up in crappy shape and died after a short time. JP contacted the seller and a replacement is coming, but he wants to finish his Saturn collection before working on a new system, so he's selling almost all of the PCE stuff (and the replacment system) to buy more Sat stuff, then he'll go back to the PCE later.

If I'm mistaken, feel free to correct me... I don't feel like re-reading the thread to see if I'm right either.

The only mistake I saw was that I'm not selling "almost" all of my PC-Engine stuff... its ALL going away. I'll start up the PC-Engine thing again in a year or so. Like I said, with the amount of money I make right now it shouldn't take me any time at all to finish off the Saturn collection. I just need focus. :)

Though buying Sapphire AGAIN in a year is going to be... not cool... especially since I didn't get to play it. :?

Thanks for the advice, but I even have trouble deciding between cartridge and disc-based consoles. I love some of the shmups on disc based consoles, but cartridge-based consoles were built to last forever-you might have to clean out some cartridges, but at least they don't have lasers that die.

And JP, I feel for you on the Duo-I got one from the clowns at www.universalvideogames.com for Christmas last year, and that one died after less then 1 week! :?

True enough, but you can also look at it this way; If you treat your game discs well, they will outlive you, and you can tell by looking if there's something wrong (i.e. a scratch, rare oxidation, etc.). Cartridges can just stop working.

IMO, it'll be easier to find a certain console sometime down the road than it will be to replace a mint copy of whatever game stopped working (or worse, multiple games).

IMO, there are advantages and disadvantages to each format, so they come out about even. Years ago, I tried to stick with one console. After selling my Neo-Geo Gold system and 16 AES carts as well as my 3DO and a bunch of games so I could buy a Saturn at Japanese launch (for more money than I care to say). I even hoped that the periodic SNK releases would curb how much I missed that Neo-Geo. I also figured I could never afford more than one system. Eventually I just gave in and started collecting everything; Not all of everything, mind you -- Just any titles that I think are worth buying for each system. I rarely (if ever) take games back or trade them in, and by the end of each generation I have a decent collection. Sometimes there are a few titles I always wished I'd bought that I end up getting some time later. Another bonus is that, if you buy games when they are nreleased, you don't end up overpaying for so-called 'rare' titles. For example, I paid regular price for Radiant Silvergun, and I ended up with two copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the price of one (and gave one away to a friend .. D'oh!). Not that I would ever sell any of them, and my ex-wife must have all of my spine cards somewhere (why on earth did I keep them separate! *smack*).
