My thoughts on a few new purchases - SPRIGGAN and OVERRIDE -

Post by DC906270 »

Hi, just made a couple of new purchases , and just finished playing. Here my thoughts :

Spriggan - PCE CD - When i first turned this on and played through about the first 3 levels, i thought "oh my god what is all the fuss its like dennin aleste on mega cd bleh" but then things started to pick up, and by the time "Act 6" comes about the game is simply stunning, unique graphical effects and enemies, kind of like a vertical winds of thunder i think. ANy one else love/hate this game?

EDIT - Just completed Spriggan last night - excellent game - but must be one of easier games to complete - gives unlimited continue - although you do start at beginning of each level every time. First game i have beaten in first night of play!!??

Override - PCE Hu - WOW this game is fast, must be the fastest moving shmup ever, zipping about from one side of screen to other in blink of an eye. Obviously inspired by Gunhed, i think this game might possibly have better gameplay??? A lot more challenging as well, by level 4 the difficulty level is about the same as the last level in Gunhed. Basic music/decent graphics a BLAST. Quite unknown as well i think. Any one else have any thoughts on this game?

I am looking for RAIDEN Hu-card for PCE.... this game is mega rare is it not? only seen it for sale once. any one ever managed to play this? opinions please!

Override is indeed friggin fast. Word to the wise: Dont die on the bosses...it's not fun trying to take them down with your pea-shooter. I always have trouble with the level 5 (I think) boss. The one who has a flamethrower mounted forward, and shoots aimed spread patters of lasers as he moves around the screen. Pain in the ass, especially once you die. Bastard also appears in the boss rush in level 6.

I have Raiden on Hu-card, complete with original box, but I don't think it's incredibly rare. I'm still debating on what to do with it though, along with the rest of the PCE stuff.

I simply adore Spriggan. It's one of my favorite shmups ever. Override is cool too, but I haven't put as much time into it.

Spriggan even feels sometimes like you're playing something out of an animated movie. Love it.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

I know what you mean about that Override boss, which spits out the lasers, you say he is on level 5, so i will run with that. He must be the hardest boss in the game tho! just use your super weapon on him a few times, although it is pretty tricky trying to power this up whilst dodging his lasers
