Capcom can make a million street fighers, devil may cry's, Even breath of fire's, why not a sequel to CL.

I'll just play it over again
You sick bastard, they're not making any more BoF's either. :(

Yeah I agree though with Chaos Legion, I could go on all day about Capcom sequels I'd like to see. Funny since Capcom is synonymous with sequelitis. Capcom really just has Street Fighter and Mega Man although really, they make new series all the time, the problem is only that they're called Mega Man. Legends and Battle Network and Zero etc are all different series mechanics-wise from mainline, they might as well be titled something else.

Mario gets whored out way more than Mega Man though and nobody complains about that. And other companies like Konami (just look at their rhythm lineup if nothing else) churn out way more sequels. It's all just reputation though. Think about how many FF or DQ games and spinoffs were made in between the time the first and last BoF games were made, and there were only 3 BoF's in between.
Theres nothing wrong with sequels aslong as they arnt done in the manner EA Sports does. Infact if there was no sequels there would be nothing to keep the retro style gameplay alive for the mass market. The fact that megaman and contra are still alive has enabled the renewed intrest in classic games with megaman 9 the new contra and even the 2D sonic game thats in development (although i dont have much faith that Sega can actually redescover the old magic and be able to make a great game)

There are many sequels of shmups (or in caves case revisions) which everybody in here cant wait the grab the next installment. If a game is fun and not a dead horse im all for em.

Fire Shark II - Takumi, Taito Type X2. Throw in the original Fire Shark as a bonus with the 360/PS3 port.

Super Aleste II - A sequel that picks right up after the SNES title, with the graphics bumped up to HD for 360/PS3. Either 2.5D or HD 2D will be fine.

Salamander 3 - Make checkpoints optional as they are in Gradius V. Also offer a Life Force 3 mode.

Axelay 2 - Just saying the name says it all.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Zero Gunner 3 - A sequel to on of my favourite shooters... would be too great. :(
Gunbird 3 - Just because another game with 25+ ridiculously funny endings would be cool.
Mars Matrix 2 - Nothing more needs to be said.
Giga Wing 4 - Well ok, I haven´t even played Generations.
Axelay 2 - Please Konami!

Last but not least another Parodius title...

And in other games than shooters: I´d love to play a new Battletoads game, but that also doesn´t seem to happen.

Hell yes. Myself I'd like to see another Kyukyoku Tiger title, as I consider the second game to be an abhorrent piece of shit that doesn't deserve the name.

Space Manbow 2. And not that shitty euro-doujin shit someone made for the MSX. I played that thing and the guys behind it should be in jail just for *thinking* about calling it "Space Manbow 2"

Honestly, I've never been a big fan of sequels... a good game is a good game and a bad game is a bad game, no matter its name has a number at its end or not. They could have called Gradius V like "Super Shooter on Space" and I would still find it awesome.

But, there's a non shmup game which I always thought it deserved a sequel or a modern remake: Stunts (AKA 4D Sports Driving). That game was hugely awesome and it still plays incredibly well, but an overhaul on its graphics, physics, framerate and everything a modern system can do for it would make it the finest racing game ever.

Einhander 2 (or Zweihander)
R-Type Delta 2 (3D)/R-Type IV (2D)/R-Type Leo 2 (play with the R-Type conventions like the first one)
Gradius VI
Salamander 3
Sexy Parodius 2 (there's still lots of unexplored sex fetishes out there.)

If Psikyo did end up doing a Gunbird 3 sequel, expect more new guests amongst old returning friends from GB 1 & 2 and more zanier/crazier arching developing story plots & endings than what was featured in GB 2. ^_~

I would love a sequel to Chaos Field where they really fleshed the concept out.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

View Point. But it would have to be done with the *exact* same crew that did the first one. Not that they couldn't try some new stuff, but for my favorite game of *any* type, ever, I'd only want the EXACT SAME PEOPLE to work on the next one.

It'll never happen, of course...but it's a nice little dream.

Thunder Force VII with both Tsukumo and Kawamoto heading the soundtrack. As much I'd like to see Tsukumo work on another TF soundtrack, Kawamoto did her part for TFVI very well, so it would be great to see them collaborate.

Speaking of Kawamoto, perhaps a new Ray game as well. Ray^0?

The world is in desperate need for a full blown new Parodius!
Penguins/moai/octopi/bali dancers... and some Andre Rieu made soundtrack...all the good stuff.

Sony/MSoft/Nintendo take notice.... I'll buy a new console for this alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Giga Wing 4: Get Masahiro Yuge and Takeshi Miura (Razing Storm BGM composer) together on the soundtrack. The Stage 3 Boss BGM (when that big scorpion walker thing comes out) from Razing Storm sounds like it would fit in a GW game.

Gaiares 2

Granada 2: Nex Entertainment (the company who did Ranger-X with former Wolfteam members on board) could probably do this one well. Not really a shmup, but still worthy of mention.

Gate of Thunder 2: A 360 or PS3 sequel that would hopefully smoke Thunder Force 6. The first GoT holds its own pretty well against TF3.

Pulstar 2 and/or Blazing Star 2: Use prerendered sprites as before, but kick up the animation frame count, parallax, resolution, and colors. Xbox 360's 512 MB RAM should be more than ample to do this.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Mushihime-Sama Black Label (XBox 360). Same treatment as the Futari port. Black Label uses same scoring system as Futari 1.5, revised shot types. Please, do happen for real!

My thoughts:

- of course, Einhander 2 (as my nickname suggests, heh)

- The Guardian Legend 2 or remake (current friendship between Irem and Atlus looks promising enough to imagine a PSP-exclusive remake of this masterpiece with Kazuma Kaneko's art. Yummy!)

- Gunstar Heroes 3 (no comment here, my all-time favorite run-n-gun; screw Contra!)

- Aleste 1 remake (may sound uninspired, but what a badass cover art does the original have)

And the big motherf*cker...

- SOLDIER BLADE 2
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!
Sega tried and failed. Nintendo didn't even try. (c) Specineff
