Help with translating HTML files

Post by TrevHead (TVR) »

Its a bit of a noobish question and im unable to find answers persific to my problem elsewhere, but im having trouble trying to translate jap web pages that are saved on my hard drive (online web pages i have no trouble with). I do have the japanese language pack installed and set up properly (or atleast i think its set up right) so all online jap characters are shown properlly. Its just the local stuff on my HD thats not always shown as proper kanji.

It is mostly saved webpages that dont show as kanji and just as gobbelldigook, eg the instruction manual in html for shmup G-Type, Google translate wont work and i cant manually translate it aswell, Im guessing that when i copy and paste, instead of japanese saving to the clipboard its ??@,©, Â, Ä, àŠô "x, © instead. Is there anyway to translate it? Or is it files like these are corrupted and dont contain any Jap Kanji info only ^adsad&<< ?

Try opening with MS word? That's worked for me for a few files. You may have to set the input type manually.

Also this really needs to go in off-topic.

Still strange, notepad should work just fine... at least for me it does.
